I've been finding this board devoid of it as of late.
In all honesty, it seems to me that the large majority of posters here have NO damned clue as to what life is about. They think it's the next drug binge, or sexual act. I've rarely seen someone comment on how they have felt great because they helped a friend solve a problem in their lives, and the general level of sincerity in anyone's words are completely lacking. I've seen about 4 regulars thus far that have shown any level of compassion and intelligence in their posts (Jewpin, Arch0wl, Moogy, and Falcon).
How many of you are honestly happy with your lives? How many of you go home at night and as you go to sleep, you simply revel in the fact you're still alive and that you sowed good that day? While life may well be about one's self, you'll gratify yourself much more often by giving OF yourself, and not obtaining immaterial things.
Sandman out, end rant.

My dad always told me to do atleast one good deed a day, for someone else. It makes me feel GREAT, helping other people.
And I'd have to say I'm ok with my life, I'm not depresed, I'm not overly fantastic. But I'm a teenager in that stage where everything sucks and crap :-p. Anyway the only bad thing I have going for me now is that my school is not all that great (the facility itsself is nice, but the people). Other than that everything is going well. With me anyway.
I don't smoke, drink, party, or score either, I don't see why I need that to be happy.

excuse me! i feel insulted that im not thought of as at least semi intelligent, granted i posted about drugbeer pie, but that was part of a conversation with scorp, and those don't even get remotely intelligent.
and you said compassion, HOW THE HELL DOES ARCHOWL FUT UNDER COMPASSION!!!
now granted that the nontangibles make life better, but who honestly would like to talk about doing some of those and who would accually like to read about those things

man you are a pansy.Define pansy for me.
"Pansy", when referred to a person, would mean one weak of body and will, and I'm neither. Perhaps you mean some "CHRIST REDDEMS YOUR SOUL" lovey-dovey stuff, but even though I believe very strongly in my Christian religion, that definately does not fit how I am. I'm one of the meanest SOB's you'll likely come across, in person. I don't take crap, and I tell you like it is.
How then, am I a "pansy"?
Thank you very much for illustrating the point I was trying to make by being an example of the immaturity I find rampant on these boards.
Back to topic:
I did not mean to say there weren't other people here that had no idea what was going on. Those were just the 4 that came to mind. And about Arch: While he comes across as a total bastard on the boards, there is a wisdom behind many of his posts that I have seen. I'm pretty sure he's one of those people that likes to come across as a huge asshole online but in reality is a pretty decent fellow.

I like my life. I enjoy it a lot. Heck, I try to enjoy it as much as possible. A lot of my joy comes from either spending time with Megan (this is probably my #1 thing), hanging out with friends, going on the computer, watching tv, or playing games. All of those things are the most enjoyable things to me. I don't have many ambitions to become someone famous or help the world or anything, I want to be able to enjoy life as much as I can, hopefully make enough money to easily support myself to do all the things I enjoy. I don't like setting high goals, and I'm in no position to say where my life would be 10 years from now as I'm not going to kid myself like a lot of people, so I honestly can't comment, but right now, I just like to savor it.

you can hardly determine whether someone is mature or not through the internet...
i **** around alot when i post/im people, but in real life i'm quite mellow. I guess the internet is a sort of therapy for me as i release anger, get a few good laughs, and have an all around good time.
and as for having a good time savoring life, being immature once in a while is good fun...being serious all the time doesn't=mature
oh and by immature i mean fooling around, not whining about the pains of life

and btw, its a forum. in real life... well... im just as immature as i am here (im a lifeless loser tho so i dont count), but thats not the point. people screw around, its the damn internet. have fun and stop being so fcking serious

I'm not too happy with life right now. The majority of things are based on material posession, and trying to be cool. When I find people that realize there is more to life than that, and practice that, I will be almost staisfied. When I find a girl like that, then things will be good.

You sound like an incredible person, you seem like you've been through a lot. I realize that I am only a newbie to these forums, but I'm going to put my own opinions into this forum as well. I've been through some interesting things in life myself, I've often thought about taking my own life, or giving up everything I own just to be with someone. I think I've just finally come to the conclusion that life is much better than it may seem sometimes, even if you feel like jumping off of your house and trying to land on your neck. For me... Life is about just being, and existing to help those that I love. I've helped those that I love, I've helped her to not just choose the easiest path out of life, and done it many times, I'll continue to do it, even if she doesn't feel the same way that I feel about her. Sincerity is a rare trait in the world, you don't seem to find it all that much, but when you do, it's as if you've found someone to help give your life some kind of meaning. I'm sorry for the organization on this post, it wasn't all that great.
Everyone has a different view on what life is about, there is no right or wrong, there's only an opinion, which is created by the experiences a person goes through, and your experiences seem like they must have been difficult, therefore, you deserve great praise.

Well...when I saw this thread, I can say I didn't know what to expect, really. I would agree with you on a lot of points about how maturity is nonexistant (and I notice my name was not included on this list, but whatever). But here's what I realized- it's America! Everybody is an asshole. Maybe it's a cynical way to look at things, well I'm a cynical person. In the world today, where compassion is viewed as a weakness and morals are all but dead. No point in displaying the obvious.
This is where I stop disagreeing with you, and would have even had you included me on the list. Maturity decends a lot farther than anyone knows, and is viewed in different forms. Some people mature by growing quiet and unobtrusive, some mature by becoming loud and annoying. My point to all this is, who the hell made you judge of that? Why do you pick out four people, say 'these are the only mature ones in the entire forum, everyone else is crap' and decide to lay it down like a law? Like Lupin said, he's not mature online. Online is for relaxing, hanging out, there's no call to be. This is a fun, relaxed forum, not a ****ing bible discussion.
Lastly, let's say, hyptothetically, you're right. You and those four other people are the only mature ones in the entire nearly 200,000 people that have joined this site. You only post once every few weeks, but okay, you know everyone well enough to make a claim like that. Kudos for you, for pointing that out did you ever consider that it might cause animosity between the 'lesser matured' people? What, you think that because you say you're opinion is mature and therefore is the only one that counts, everyone will bow down and listen to you? You want Synth to step aside, and you'll take the reigns?
You need to step back and take a good, long look at your life, and what you're trying to impose on everyone else's. If you considered what you said from an outsider's point of view, they'd call bull**** in a minute. What you're trying to do may relieve your need for a rant, but it sure as hell doesn't help anything else.
I'm out.

Hmm, I need to post in the Critical Thinking board more often...
Laharl raises some very good points. The boards have not been very mature as of late... I don't know what the problem is; I suppose that FFR is merely a gathering point for the immature. I'm with Brain; it's a mystery to me as to why so many people act immature on these boards...
Though I suppose the same can be said of elsewhere, these boards are really very immature, as compared to other boards I've seen.
My advice to people? Just one small thing... Before you post, think. That's all people need to do... sadly, it seems that thinking is becoming too much of a burden for most people to handle nowadays...
Anyway, just my two cents.

People seem to get my really warped sense of humor confused with immaturity. Some of the things I saw would make the Pope drop dead from a heart attack. I can be very serious if I want too...but it is no fun for me.
Many people are offened by some of the things I have to say. I just feel people take things too seriously...especially religion...in my opinion, it makes people close minded. But as long as they are good people, I have nothing against them.
If people view me as a horrible person for what I saw, then I could care less. It's their loss. But you know what, it seems the people who have a problem with me are those who drive their SUVs to starbucks, while talking on their cell phones, and think all the poor should be killed, and hate minorities. The same people who slapped 48,000 "I heart America" stickers on their SUVs and now can be seen scraping them off. **** those people. They think they are so high and mighty because they attend church every week, and I, a dirty, rotten, no good, Satan worshipping, sinner, because I said "Jesus probably got a BJ while he was being crucified". Well, while they are at their precious church, I'm helping the homeless shelters distribute food. I dont need a ****ing God to tell me to be good. I do it on my own.

WOW way to judge every ****ing person on earth dumbass. You have no idea what kind of **** ive gone through.. and here you are telling me i dont know what life is about. i suggest you stfu because you shouldnt be telling people that they dont know anything about life, because from my point of view.. just saying that shows me you know nothing. If you want to know **** about life, talk to synthlight, Jewpin or Me. All three of us have gone thru the same **** and im sure they both will agree they know a few things about life (especially synthlight because he has much more experences in life then myself). Im sure there are a few other people that are FFR members who know what real life is. There are 200 000+ people on here afterall. Jewpin pointed alot out in his post.. He has the most respect from me out of all the people on FFR. I like to get laughs on ffr by being what you call immature. Its not my fault that people take **** i say so personally.. after all I am a person on the internet that they dont know in real life, they should take it to heart when i say ****.(sarcasm) Dont talk about knowing what life is about untill you experience some major things like losing all your family to cancer. Im very satisfied with my life. I do alot of work for the canadian cancer society every summer. I might not know everything there is to life. But watching my mom die for 3 years sure made me more mature then 90% of the people i know. The post you made makes me so angry and affended me incredibly im just going to end the post. You judge the people on here more then anyone and you shouldnt be allowed to say **** like that here... judging people on POSTS ON THE INTERNET. Go **** off and die

my first grandma died a couple of months before i was born, the other one died when i was 5... experiencing a death at 5 ****IN YEARS OLD. thats hell my friend, before u are really released into the world your family members are your only friends. my grandma was my best friend at the time she died. my grandpa was still one of my best friends while he was dying of cancer (for the same amount of time as your mom). we visited him for a week. during his funeral i looked in the casket. it was sickening how life can end like that. the only thing that wasnt bad about the death was that i was asleep when he died, my mom woke me up like 10 minutes after he died. i kno pain jello..

Death isnt realy all that fun. But lately it seems as though there has been a lot of Deaht in my family...and that is partly the reason why I am so warped (though I do believe I was at least partially warped before that).
I do fear death because there is so much more that I want to do with my life. But if it happens, it happens. There aint no durning back time....
Okay just now, as I was writting out that last part I was thinking to myself "or is there"....and then I started thinking about that new movie coming out the butterfly effect. This is a good example of how my mind works. One momentm I am saying something rather profound, and the next I'm talking about some movie starring Aston Kucher (whatever).
I am glad to see that there are others who agree with me. Perhaps there is hope left in this world.
And dont get me wrong, I dont have anything against God. I'm sure, if it exists, it is probably pretty cool. Jesus too.
But I am very different in real life because on the forums I actually have time to think about what I am going to say before I say it (which often times gets me in trouble...but is still entertaining.)
If there is one piece of advice that I could give too all y'all would be "learn to laugh at yourself." Laugh at your mistakes. Today, my friend Quang pulled the chair out from under me as I was sitting down. I fell so hard on my ass. I couldnt stop laughing (neither could the class) but it didnt bother me because it was funny. Also, learn to accept the possibility that you are wrong. It makes life much easier.
::EDIT:: Damn, I should have posted what Jello Instant Messaged me to get look at his posted. It went like this:

Well... I know some of you probably I'm a very immature person on these forums.. key word there, ON THESE FORUMS. It's the internet, I just like to relax and have fun, especially after a bad day. If you were to meet me in real life, you would be amazed at the difference between my online self and my real physical self. I honestly couldn't be happier with my life right now, although sometimes I feel real life is coming on a little fast. I only act immature here because... sometimes you just gotta get the childish feelings out of you... and here is the best place to do it.

Sometimes seriousness is better than you think. To go into flame wars all the time actually can bring out effects in real life. You might not be more violent, but it does effect your mind. I try to keep down the road of moderation. It creates a calming effect that I can use.

I didn't think the thread would so well illustrate my point in my absense.
Jello: In case you missed it, the second or 3rd post I made in the thread was an ammendum, explaining those were simply the first 4 people that came to mind. Quite often, I'm guilty of saying things in absolutes, even though I understand there are exceptions to everything.
You did do something very hypocritical in YOUR VARY OWN POST towards me, however. You harp on me for not knowing anything of pain and trial in life, so I should just shut up and not say a word? Well, last I checked, my life isn't anywhere near perfect. I've known death in the family. I've known the pain of lost friends. Even worse, I've known the pain of friends permanently lost after losing their friendship, leaving scars inside my heart, that someone I cared about so much died with spite and hatred towards me in their souls.
As your trials have shaped your opinions and attitude, so have my own.

alright im not reading all 8 pages of posts, dont hate me..
I''m very happy with my life.. everyday i do one of 5 regualr things...
1. hang out with friends
2. Think logically about any subject for atleast an hour
3. find a way to make my mom happy
4. Take seriously to a person with problems (usually one of my friends)
5. have some sort to of sexual relation with a female.
now if you want to say im immature or not logical because i dont agree with suicide and don't give sympothy to those who have died because of suicide, or like to have casual sex/relations with women then go ahead... i might not be one of the smartest people on here... but i am doing exactly what i want in my life.. and your not doing what you want in life then your not living...

Maturity should not be expected from people, they might be mature in thier own right just in a different way than you. different people might not see things in your perspective and that does not make them immature. To you helping others with thier problems might mean maturity but to someone else the most mature thing they could do is let them figure things out for themselves. In my personal opinion maturity depends on your level of love for life and will to make it all it's worth for yourself and those you care about it's ignoring the trivial aspects and focusing on the whole of it. Sure in chat I'm constantly acting like a horny idiot shouting I'm naked, I'm naked, but I think it's funny and for all I know it might make some of you smile and that is what I aimed for. It's when you look past the immaturity in people and get to know them that you find more maturity in that person but a higher level of maturity in yourself as well.

Well Hello
I thought I'd actually post for the first time in this forum becuase I'm quite the critical thinker. Alot of people always thought that I think too much but it makes me a better person if I think.
I don't know how old most of you guys are but being 26 puts me in unique position. I'm half way between being a teen and old person, but in terms of the status of my life it could be much, much better.
I'm not very satisfied with myself and I see myself being in the wrong position in life. A guy like myself should have been on the fast road to success, but all I've seen in my life is failure. Failure because i've failed to be a living person.
Not having put the kind of energy into academics has really hurt my life. I've always had the ability to get a good gpa, but no drive to work for it. In doing so I've come to live as a shadow that nobody really sees or cares about when they see me.
I've seperated myself from family and loved ones, but I'm ok with that. I guess I don't feel that everyone should have loved ones in their lives because all they will ever do is betray you. That's all my loved ones have ever done for me.
I guess I'll stop ranting for now, but to sit here and type all of this makes me feel a little better. Thanks!!!
