im thinking about getting into production of electronic music creating sounds of breakbeat techno I.E. (vsnares, aphex, squarepusher) etc.

im wondering what equipment (programs?) etc. do they use and what are they called?

-thanks!

Hope that helps.

I will pay you if you can find out what programs squarepusher uses. Aphex twin writes his own programs. I'm not sure about venisian snares.

If you are just learning, start with fruity loops or Reason.

Squarepusher I know uses a plugin called Super Collider to make those stutters.

Acid Pro and Ableton Live 5 come to mind for beats, especially now with Live's Beat Repeat.

Question: if they use all the computer programs, then why do they use turntables on live mixes? (im a n00b when it comes too this sorry)

Because it's the "traditional" way. *rolls eyes*

actually turntables make for nice inputs in some cases... you can modulate the hell out of them and make them all digitally and stuffs with fruity loops... :D

I use a mix of Sonar 2 and FL Studio 5. I would recommend FL Studio because you can make a break and than slice it up in a slicer generator. This makes it easer to make fast breaks like Vsnares or Aphex. You've gotta love crazy breaks!
