You guys have to play some other music games other than Bemani and Pump It Up! Anyone? Anyone play Bust A Move (Groove), Frequency, Gutaroo Man, Parrappa, Flash Beats; anything?

I just got a used copy of Space Channel 5 for Dreamcast... I'm still getting used to it. It's fun, but I still like DDR better. :)

I want to see what Sega has done for the second Space Channel 5. The first one was ok, but it really wasn't the music game I was hoping for. Sega has some really great music games out there including Samba De Amigo, Flash Beats and Crackin' DJ, so I can trust they can spice the game up a bit.

This may be late, but I have played Space channel five, Parappa 1+2, Um Jammer Lammy, have frequency (Can't wait for amplitude), and played bust-a-groove.
For a time bust-a-groove had the most catchy songs. I think it is what made me get into DDR in the first place.
My life is comprised mainly of introductions, and the way I play games of all type is no different. People really should get out and play other music games more often than not. This holds true for other games genres too. People often think that they are only capable of playing a certain game genre, like puzzles or fighting games, and that they can't do another one as well. This is very untrue. I played tetris a lot, but I played contra as well.
You see, gamers share a lot of similar attributes, like aggression, intellegence (at least some do) and strategy. Things like reflexes make up whether a person is good at a game from the start. However this doesn't mean that you can't get good at a game like Bust a move if you play Sonic games all day long. You just get looked at differently.
The same goes for Music games. Just because you play DDR/FFR a lot, doesn't mean that you can't play a mean game of Frequency. You just need to adjust. The same thing happen to me while I was playing Mortal Kombat: DA. I got so used to the controls in tekken 4 that I was hard pressed to block most of the time. However, once I got into it (which isn't hard at all. :D ) I whooped some ass in that game. Again, same thing with Music games. I played Bust-a-groove a lot and when I played DDR It was significantly harder (This may have had something to do with the fact that, unless you have a glandular problem, you would sweat a lot harder in DDR than bust a groove. Unless you made you own dance pad. That last sentence upsets me that people could have tried that. ).
Look, what I am trying to say is play other music games for the love of god!.
Thank you.

Space Channel 5 is fun in small doses, and there's some clever design in there, but I'm not really a huge fan. It's enjoyable, but there's nothing that really grabs me.
The only console I have is Dreamcast right now, so I'm a little short on rhythm games. A few weeks ago, though, I found this really spiffy homebrew game called Feet of Fury (http://www.cagames.com). It's more or less like DDR, but it's centered around the two-player mode... you can do "attacks" by hitting certain arrows. It's still in beta, but you can download the image of it for free and burn it if you're curious... it's already very professional-looking. Cool stuff.

I've played a game my friend made, called SuperTunes! its pretty cool, you have to hit the keyboard keys to keep the music going. And if you hit it at the wrong time, it stops and you loose. Kinda liike sudden death.

Amplitude will own all. I've had Frequency for over a year and 4 months now and I still play it.
I have the demo and I'm wondering why the gameplay was tweaked that way. I still find the gameplay enjoyable but I don't like the way you can't wrap the playfield around in cyclical fashion. It kinda makes you scroll more frantically. I am also praying the freestyle aspect of the axe and scratch weren't removed in the final version. It's hard to compare it to the original since it's only in demo form so far.

Would Gitaroo man qualify or would that not make it on musical games...? :D

Gitaroo Man is probably my favorite non-Bemani music game behind Bust a Move. I haven't had time to get through Master Mode, but it's really fun to play.
I bought Amplitude Friday and even though it doesn't even come close to comparing to Frequency in my opinion, it's a very solid game. I think it's mostly the music selection that sways my opinion but there are a few annoying gameplay presentation changes I highly dislike over Frequency. All I have to do now is finish the last four levels on Insane and I'll have it completely cleared.

I like DanceManiax cause it has a good variety of songs, especially on the J-Appends and I can really get into it. If you are just using your hands, you are really defeating the entire purpose of the game.

Gitaroo Man. Ive seen alot of sleeper hits, but this game has a HUGE "Fun:But Ignored" ratio. It's an awesome, awesome game thats quite a challenge, fun, and has SWEET music. I'm talking "Makes you hum the tune for 3 months and you never try to get it out of your head" sweet. And it had some pretty cool visual moments as well. I suppose it was mostly discarded for its bizzareness.

I play O2, Pop'n, and Guitar Freaks. If I get the chance I'll play PPP.
I'm considering saving up for a Desktop Arcade controller, though I'm gonna have to get a big-ass table once I get it.

I tried out DJMax but it's kinda hard to set up, I can't torrent the songs, and I hate how you can't play songs above your level.
But I am looking to get DJMax Portable, once I get my Wangan Midnight (no not Maximum Tune, the original game that came out in 2001) OST and the coupon that will come with it.
