I cant get my computer to read the dance pads that i have. please help

My thoughts exactly.

Anyway, Stepmania.com (http://www.Stepmania.com) has a help section for pads. That should be able to get your pad working.

Make sure your adapter maps the arrows as buttons. It won't work if it maps them to the axes.

No, you can play it with the arrow keys on your keyboard. Most people use the keyboard, not a pad.
