friend of mine wrote out a very nice, smooth piano melody which i took and morphed into this.

im not sure, but the rim at the end may be a bit overwhelming. and that perc hole is on purpose, yes.
EDIT: right click, save target as. this is if the dl does not werk.

Nice use of disonance and harmonies. It is nice to see someone who isn't afraid to be disonant.
Also, your relative Db levels are good. That will come to be your best ally when you get into lots of music layers. People get a notion that even the subtle things should be heard, but in the best pieces, those things in the background are just that. Background. Sure you can still hear it, but people should only be able to know it is there if you gave them a copy of the song with it omitted. Then they would say something is worse about it, yet now know why.
A very well done piece of music, I hope you get what you want from it.

EDIT!: I like it alot. It would be cool to hear the original, though.

thanks cen, cypher. i would like to see this be on R2, and i think it would make for an interesting stepfile. i fergot to add that i cannot simply attach only my name to this, its also partly my friend's. so the author of this piece is sleeplessdragn and le. yea, i asked him for an artist name and he was pretty basic with it.

The melody sounds amazing, but it would sound A LOT better slowed down to around 140ish.

So, so true. I know when I'm working on background for a piece, I'm not sure if it's even there. But when I mute it, I can hear a great difference. These little things can make a good song great.
Anyway, this is a very good piece and the pianos/strings mixed together excellently.

shox i tried reducing the BPM, and i agree the middle section of this piece would sound better, but i dont think 140 would fit the beginning and end of it very well. im juggling the idea of a BPM change, but i think the change from one tone to another would be overwhelming, as i think the changes are heavy enough based on different synths, samples, etc.

Yeah I was only talking about the middle section being better as slower. Let me hear what it sounds like :)

ive been screwing around with the bpm a bit over these last few days, doing so in the little time i have. ill render wat i have and put it up later today, but it takes quite some time because im using a very decent piano SF that makes the render time quadruple. i also made a few tiny, very minor db changes that i thought made the bpm changes more fluid.

MUCH better.
Speed it up just a LITTLE bit and it'll sound great.

speed it up...where? currently there are 4 bpm changes. it goes from 157 to 145 to 150 back to 145 for 4 measures then the trance part is played at 158. or are you talking overall?

Where the slowdown begins and the main melody kicks in, speed that part up juuuust a little bit.

I must say that this song is absolutely beautiful. I couldn't stop listening to it last night. Of course, I was disappointed with the abrupt cutoff, but I think I can understand why it's there.
Point of Note: Roller Coaster Ride is also awesome.
Keep up the good work.
