In the FF games they're just taking the stuff from the old games and changing them a LITTLE bit and putting them in the new games. For instance, FFMQ has the cloister of trials where you get the rat tail to give to Bahamaut, what does FFX have? A cloister of trials. FF9 has the four elemental mirrors or whatever right? With the 4 guardians protecting them. FFMQ, the guardians are the main bosses in FFMQ, and Marilith and LIch are exactly the same but with different names, and I swear yuo can fight Kraken when you're underwater in Memoria in FF9. And I've heard Memoria before, they probably took an old thing and made Memoria in FF9.

Same makers. Final Fantasies 1-6 were the same: SAVE THE ****ING CHRYSTALS!!!!!! Four through six were good, 1-3 were the same and blew ass.
FF7 was really original, though!

yes it's true. this is one of the maindownslides of the final fantasy series. But even the IDEA of final fantasy isn't original. Secret of Mana, and some other secret of ______ were the first, Final Fantasy has alot of similarities with those two games.

Ugh... you people call yourselves RPG fans?
FFMQ is not an FF.
FF1-7 use the crystals as plot devices, not the main focus.
FF7 was definatly not the most original, nearly all of its ideas are drawn from older FFs. If FF7 was indeed the most original, name 5 things it did first. Other than graphics, that is.

the first RPG was Dungeons and Dragons. ALL Rpgs, especially MMRPGs, have many similarities with D&D. The first console RPG was Ultima (also the name of a spell in FF series, they named it that to do homage to the older RPGs)
SoM came after FF. also, SoM has nothing to do with FF, other than it was made by Square. Secret of Evermore (which you are talking about, I believe?) came out after SoM, had of few of SoM gameplay concepts, and was a pretty good game. But definatly not first.

Wasn't Holy Materia just called Holy Materia and Black Materia called Black Materia, then they wouldn't be earth, fire, water or wind right?

yeah, but I think Holy and Meteo sound better. But it's still a battle over crystals, which culminates in a battle with a God-like being (also in previous FFs)

Meteor, it's Meteor, and by culminates in a battle with a God-like being, do you mean fighting with Sephiroth who should have been a god and Kefka and Chaos and Zeromus.....Chaos was a god.....

Chaos was a huge dragon.
FF7 wasn't all that original.
MQ isn't really part of the FF series as it was made by Square USA but is a FF game nonetheless. *Kinda* like Chrono Trigger is.
And to be fair, ALL the FFs are extremely top-notch. They have entirely different storylines but the plot devices are still almost the same. Most RPG series do this.
[EDIT: Jewpin where's your RPG I want to try it out, if you're finished already.]
