Game modes?

Hi there FFR-community.
Long time member and player but first time poster.

When I play FFR I usually play top-down mode and I use the ASKL setup.
However, I thought I'd try something new the other day - so I switched gamemode to the.. weird one which I can't really find a name for.

I'm having a hard time finding the correct key for the correct arrow - anyone who could briefly explain this mode for me?

I've attempted the first note of the same song 4 times, trying all the 4 keys - there must be something else to it, though - as nothing's responded to my key-input.

I recall this scroll setup from the early days. It was known as "diagonal scroll" and as you can probably guess, it's a pain in the ass to cope with on more difficult songs.

After clicking on a different scroll direction, what I would do is go to Settings and look at where my key bindings are again before jumping into the level. Hope that helped.

If I remember correctly, there was a problem with this mode that would make it unplayable if you have ANY speed mod on. You have to play at 1.0 speed or else the game would only register misses.
