Ok this isn't a reference to the actual song by The Killers, but an actual legit topic.

Everyone knows that when you're young, you always see something you wanna become, based on the influences from the media, outside world, video games, your parents, or doing the impossible.

I always wanted to be an astronaut for some reason. Just the thrill of being in space always made me wanna actually experience the real thing.

Oh yeah, and I agree that everyone always thinks they can be a pro athlete as a kid. I always wanted to be the next Jerry Rice. I loved making impossible catches and trying to duplicate them in games. However, I left it after middle school considering I'm not strong enough to play it.

The only sport I actually have a chance in becoming pro is basketball. I mean, I have a small chance, considering I'm on JV as a junior. But unless I make Varsity next year or get considerably better, I probably have a slim-to-none chance.

It makes me sad when I realize that what I always wanted to become I never fully achieved, especially in sports. =(

I think we are old enough to know when a dream is just a dream. Even though its something id like to do i know i just couldn't get there. There are other more reasonable things that i enjoy doing, but none of them are my actual dream job. A dream for most people is just a dream. im perfectly happy just looking at the stars just the way they are.

I had a promising Soccer career ahead of me, was recruited into AAA around 15 and I was a pretty promising player at the time according to the scouts and coaches. But then, I literally became depressed out of nowhere, dropped out of school, my parents were having financial problems at the time and couldn't keep paying for my AAA, so I basically got cut and then I started working just before I turned 17.

Since then, I've been out of shape as fack but I did go to an adult ed center and completed high school as of last year. I'm pretty bummed out cause I always imagined I'd force myself through Cejep and University and do anything it took to become part of the Montreal Impact and/or possibly become larger you know? But that's that, I hope to find a trade soon and get a regular career like an average joe.

I wanted to make games from a very early age. When I was 5, I used to make games on paper (don't ask me how you were supposed to play them, lmao). I had this desire to make games until high school, and then I considered becoming some kind of engineer. And then, somehow, I went to college and did business/economics for practical reasons (I didn't want to end up being an underpaid code monkey somewhere).

Of course, I learned all too late that business, while fun sometimes, is not nearly as exciting as computer stuff is for me, no matter how much it pays. I find that being good with programming/cse and business/math is a killer combination, but it still doesn't change the fact that I absolutely love games.

I learned a lot in college, but I would have had more fun studying what I loved (i.e. I should have been an engineer).

Of course, who knows what I'll be saying five years from now. Perhaps this was a wise investment.

And when I was really younger I wanted to be a policeman. No idea why, but for some reason that attracted me. Then, for quite a while, I simply had no idea other than I wanted to go into something science-related. And here I am today.

You'll find out real quick that most engineers suck at business-related matters/statistics/finance and most businessmen suck at math/computer science. The deeper you can draw from both pools, the better off you'll be.

I vaguely remember drawing a police officer on a paper doll cut-out in elementary school. I'm pretty sure that's what I wanted to be when I was under 7 years old. Quickly that changed to game design, but as I got older, and the game design industry began getting crowded, I changed my focus to advertising and design. Advertising is where it's at anyway.
