hey guys i have an assignment for english and i am having a little trouble starting out. my assignment is to write a news article in the role of a person. this is the basic criteria and info for the paper.

Assignment: Imagine you are one of the following and it is October, 1994.
v UN soldier
v Red cross volunteer
v A representative from the Clinton Administration
v A Rwandan refugee who goes back to Rwanda in 1995

As one of the above, you will now play the role of journalist. It is your job to write a news article as you believe that person would. Remember, you will be “viewing” through the eyes of the person’s title, job, etc. from the list above. Since this is a news article you must be clear, focused, and non-emotional. Be sure to answer the basic journalistic questions.

she didnt really specify how long the paper should be for a news article. and im wondering how i should start the article off, should i introduce who i am and what my title is. and in what order should i answer the journalistic questions: who, what, where, when, and why. thanks alot for any help!

Well you should absolutely start with "when," it gives you the easiest leaping point and from there you easily transition into "where" and "what." In describing "what" you should, I hope, hit the rest of your bases.

where/when (establishes setting) -> who/what/how (basic information) -> why (deeper description)
