they have banned fahrenheit 451 from schools which is really pure irony, since the book talks all about censorship in the future

They haven't banned it from my school, it's still on the shelves. They have however, banned myspace.com and porn sites. Both being understandable.

No we shouldn't.
If you tell them it's bad, and not to do it... They'll want to. :P |

On another note; in my school they ban certain things lie I already mentioned, but they allow others that are more obscene. For example: they have a book for Silent Sustained Reading thats content is all about this woman's sexual and drug fantasies. Why not censor that?

I wouldn't go as far as censorship, because I think everything about the whole fiasco is quite overrated. You learn as you grow, and I guess thats about it. Pop culture certainly contradicts such natural mental maturity, with all the games that promotes violence and such, I feel thats the only major obstacle thats abstruse to kids about the difference between the good and bad.
About all those spokespeople and their trash talk about the no violence. I, a 15 Year old, at the overture stages of becoming an adult, gets the whole thing on full volume. I couldn't count anymore about how many pointless assemblies we had about negating and avoiding violence. Thats pure crap to me, you don't make a difference by talking to us, do something useful and start promoting your bible to the media and game developers. ( Bible is used in the non religious way, and as an adjective) And to add to this, it feels like they are accusing and pointing their ageism at teens and kids, fearing and assuming we have the definite potential to cause violence and destruction. I feel like speaking for all the teenagers when I say this, but: Go hate the game. We are just the players. Last edited by Zythus; 02-29-2008 at 04:44 PM.. |

Yes it is a good idea to censor children from certain things like if there's a video of a killing out do you really want your child to watch that? Or like in the music community most rappers and children in that matter say that they'll "Pop a cap in your ass." Do you really want your kids exposed t o that sort of person whom is willing to kill someone or have them exposed to music that makes that gesture?
