I know this is asking quite a bit, but is there any chance you would consider holding off on the mental rounds for the weekend?
I don't plan on being home friday or saturday night, and I'm sure others will find themselves in the same situation. Seeing as how the mental rounds are an element of speed, this is a huge disadvantage. Plus doing so would give everyone a chance to catch up on playing the actual songs. Obviously you can't adjust to suit everyones needs, but weekends off would be nice. I'm just enjoying this tournament and don't want to fall behind ![]()

As it currently stands, a new riddle will go up at 11:59 pm on each of
monday, wednesday, friday, and sunday. Meaning that two rounds from now, will go up late friday night, and last all weekend. If that is seriously problematic for say...at least five people who have all submitted responses in all rounds until then, we can postpone, but since this is going to last for some time, all songs are playable at all times, you're looking at missing out on 1-5 points out of upwards of 100 possible points (if there are 10 rounds) which isn't so significant that I'd feel justified in postponing the whole thing for one or two people. |

Hey, rounds start at 5 a.m. for me, but I'm okay with it.

Would people like it better then, if I slowly moved the times forward or backward?

I'm not sure if that's necessary. I think I'm the only player who can't make the start of the round due to the times. It's not feasible to mess about with the starting times just for one or two people if everyone else is happy. Besides, I should be able to still get 4 points on the riddles for being in the first ten.
That said, I'd ideally like start times around 5-6 p.m. EST. That would probably accommodate everyone who wanted to join. |

Well, considering that only 15 people seem to be playing, compared to the 38 that all said they wanted in, 3 points per riddle, and maybe 2 points per song is the worst you can possibly get, so your odds of a minimum 3 points per riddle are assured, and 4 points per riddle is highly likely, so yeah, I wouldn't stress too much about the late hour of round starting.

Rofl, people posting the song in here.
Dev, you should disregard all song entries unless the user has either PMed you with the answer to the riddle, or posting on the wall of the user with the answer's profile.

People are not allowed to mention round 2's song, or post round 2 scores until the round 2 riddle ends wednesday at 11:59pm. Further, you are under no obligation to correctly get the riddle in order to submit the song, nor are you -ever- supposed to post about the riddle anywhere except in private messages for me...So I'm really not sure what your rofl or your issue are about. Also, updated. |

This tournament is great! The mental challenges are excellent because more people than just the super-intelligent can deduce the correct answer, but the challenges still requires critical thinking.

i already solved it. and, 7. 5 from round 1, 2 for getting 3 in round 2 vs 5. was simple enough. and 1 was a joke, looking at it now.
hope they get harder.

Well, the first correct response in round one came about 9 minutes after I posted. So you'd be safer to claim you lost out on 4 points in round one, and maybe 1 or 2 in round 2, total loss of maybe 5 or 6 points. I expect by the end of round three, you'll be in the top 3 at worst. *grin*
As for the difficulty of the puzzles, it is tough to strike a balance between difficulty and obscurity. I need something that -most- people could figure out over two days, but that smart and quick people can figure out within an hour or two at most. Unfortunately, it is likely that difficulty will come through it taking longer to solve puzzles, rather than necessarily making the puzzles "harder" but I'm doing the best that I can :P If people really like the tourney and want me to do another one, I'll have a lot more time to plan puzzles in advance of it starting. |
