Where you go when you die: you can believe what ever your religion says or what ever you personally believe, but actually NO ONE REALLY KNOWS YET WITH THE LACK OF ANY SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE!

If you are interested in the concept of heaven, hell, and purgatory, even if you don't believe it, you should read Dante's "Divine Comedy".

A book I really love, called Odd Thomas, puts forth the idea that this life, the one we're in right now, is 'boot camp', a trial and training for the second life, 'service', in which we are enlisted in god's army to fight and serve in whatever we might need to do so, kinda like being in the regular army, but obviously it's more spiritual, with more fantasy elements involved. After that life, there is the reward - essentially what we consider heaven. |

And Piers Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" series. Good stuff there, with a really interesting concept of the afterlife and the workings of the universe in general.

Here's where we see differently. I don't believe a soul exists, nor do I believe that there is a divine power. Both I think are products of wishful thinking and from lacking many of life's answers. I won't elaborate, because that's for another thread.

Which Circle of Hell is that?

Well, you said "after we die, we eventually live a new life" - if we don't have souls, what makes it 'us' that's living that new life? Might as well not even believe we live a new life, that's more like we die and that's it, and other people are born.

I wonder how many other Circles of Hell they've made since The Divine Comedy.
Call me a retard, but I feel kinda bad about posting like this in CT. |

Theoretically in heaven, you can't do the nasty the way you most likely want to do it on Earth, on moral grounds. In hell, you can't do the nasty the way you want to, on grounds that you're not supposed to have fun. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. |

My parents tell me I'm a Christian and when I die, I go to Heaven.
Uh... I don't know. Personally, I don't give a ****. I'll live my life, and when I die, I die. There's nothing else to it.

Do they ever specify whether you're orthodox or catholic? Unitarian, pentacostal, baptist, lutheren, methodist...?

There is probably no answer to this question. The only real indication is what people believe. Really, all theories are equally valid: heaven, hell, reincarnation, life stream, nothingness, whatever.
I believe that belief begets truth, so go with whatever sounds best to you. Hell is lame though, don't believe in hell. While I'm here, I might as well say that there is no such thing as absolute truth, only that which we percieve and feel. Of course, that implies an absolute truth in itself, so it's sort of a paradox. |

And in that case, even our bodies must be a product of our organs. And in that case, even our organs must be a product; of our organs! So here, unless you're willing to bite the bullet and accept that this reductio ad absurdum circa late 1800's actually demonstrates a truth, it seems we can discount that form of solipsism at least as it stands. |
