Default Maturity.

I've been finding this board devoid of it as of late.

In all honesty, it seems to me that the large majority of posters here have NO damned clue as to what life is about. They think it's the next drug binge, or sexual act. I've rarely seen someone comment on how they have felt great because they helped a friend solve a problem in their lives, and the general level of sincerity in anyone's words are completely lacking. I've seen about 4 regulars thus far that have shown any level of compassion and intelligence in their posts (Jewpin, Arch0wl, Moogy, and Falcon).

How many of you are honestly happy with your lives? How many of you go home at night and as you go to sleep, you simply revel in the fact you're still alive and that you sowed good that day? While life may well be about one's self, you'll gratify yourself much more often by giving OF yourself, and not obtaining immaterial things.

Sandman out, end rant.

My dad always told me to do atleast one good deed a day, for someone else. It makes me feel GREAT, helping other people.

And I'd have to say I'm ok with my life, I'm not depresed, I'm not overly fantastic. But I'm a teenager in that stage where everything sucks and crap :-p. Anyway the only bad thing I have going for me now is that my school is not all that great (the facility itsself is nice, but the people). Other than that everything is going well. With me anyway.

I don't smoke, drink, party, or score either, I don't see why I need that to be happy.

excuse me! i feel insulted that im not thought of as at least semi intelligent, granted i posted about drugbeer pie, but that was part of a conversation with scorp, and those don't even get remotely intelligent.

and you said compassion, HOW THE HELL DOES ARCHOWL FUT UNDER COMPASSION!!!

now granted that the nontangibles make life better, but who honestly would like to talk about doing some of those and who would accually like to read about those things

"Pansy", when referred to a person, would mean one weak of body and will, and I'm neither. Perhaps you mean some "CHRIST REDDEMS YOUR SOUL" lovey-dovey stuff, but even though I believe very strongly in my Christian religion, that definately does not fit how I am. I'm one of the meanest SOB's you'll likely come across, in person. I don't take crap, and I tell you like it is.

How then, am I a "pansy"?

Thank you very much for illustrating the point I was trying to make by being an example of the immaturity I find rampant on these boards.

Back to topic:

I did not mean to say there weren't other people here that had no idea what was going on. Those were just the 4 that came to mind. And about Arch: While he comes across as a total bastard on the boards, there is a wisdom behind many of his posts that I have seen. I'm pretty sure he's one of those people that likes to come across as a huge asshole online but in reality is a pretty decent fellow.

@ MWGwyn: Awesome. :D

I like my life. I enjoy it a lot. Heck, I try to enjoy it as much as possible. A lot of my joy comes from either spending time with Megan (this is probably my #1 thing), hanging out with friends, going on the computer, watching tv, or playing games. All of those things are the most enjoyable things to me. I don't have many ambitions to become someone famous or help the world or anything, I want to be able to enjoy life as much as I can, hopefully make enough money to easily support myself to do all the things I enjoy. I don't like setting high goals, and I'm in no position to say where my life would be 10 years from now as I'm not going to kid myself like a lot of people, so I honestly can't comment, but right now, I just like to savor it.

i am mature, but when on the internet i feel i can act kinda crazy, as some of you know i used to post alot in the critical thinking forum when it was first created, but some people who shouldnt really post in there got me discouraged from that seciton, so meh, i think, yeah.

you can hardly determine whether someone is mature or not through the internet...
i fuck around alot when i post/im people, but in real life i'm quite mellow. I guess the internet is a sort of therapy for me as i release anger, get a few good laughs, and have an all around good time.

and as for having a good time savoring life, being immature once in a while is good fun...being serious all the time doesn't=mature

oh and by immature i mean fooling around, not whining about the pains of life

I'm not too happy with life right now. The majority of things are based on material posession, and trying to be cool. When I find people that realize there is more to life than that, and practice that, I will be almost staisfied. When I find a girl like that, then things will be good.

You sound like an incredible person, you seem like you've been through a lot. I realize that I am only a newbie to these forums, but I'm going to put my own opinions into this forum as well. I've been through some interesting things in life myself, I've often thought about taking my own life, or giving up everything I own just to be with someone. I think I've just finally come to the conclusion that life is much better than it may seem sometimes, even if you feel like jumping off of your house and trying to land on your neck. For me... Life is about just being, and existing to help those that I love. I've helped those that I love, I've helped her to not just choose the easiest path out of life, and done it many times, I'll continue to do it, even if she doesn't feel the same way that I feel about her. Sincerity is a rare trait in the world, you don't seem to find it all that much, but when you do, it's as if you've found someone to help give your life some kind of meaning. I'm sorry for the organization on this post, it wasn't all that great.

Everyone has a different view on what life is about, there is no right or wrong, there's only an opinion, which is created by the experiences a person goes through, and your experiences seem like they must have been difficult, therefore, you deserve great praise.

Err.. well, thanks. That caught me off guard. Wasn't expecting anything but flames toward me, heh.

That means a lot to me. I appreciate the comment, RIAA.

@ PARANOiA: WOW, BRITISH SLANG. YOU CAUGHT ME SO OFF GUARD I ALMOST DIED.

Just because you can't see it, imagine someone whose eyes are rolled so far back they've nearly swallowed them. That's about what I'm doing at your comments in this thread.

There is a difference between joking around, having fun, and being funny, as compared to what you're trying to pull off. If you want to be a comedian, learn how to be funny.

Well...when I saw this thread, I can say I didn't know what to expect, really. I would agree with you on a lot of points about how maturity is nonexistant (and I notice my name was not included on this list, but whatever). But here's what I realized- it's America! Everybody is an asshole. Maybe it's a cynical way to look at things, well I'm a cynical person. In the world today, where compassion is viewed as a weakness and morals are all but dead. No point in displaying the obvious.

This is where I stop disagreeing with you, and would have even had you included me on the list. Maturity decends a lot farther than anyone knows, and is viewed in different forms. Some people mature by growing quiet and unobtrusive, some mature by becoming loud and annoying. My point to all this is, who the hell made you judge of that? Why do you pick out four people, say 'these are the only mature ones in the entire forum, everyone else is crap' and decide to lay it down like a law? Like Lupin said, he's not mature online. Online is for relaxing, hanging out, there's no call to be. This is a fun, relaxed forum, not a fucking bible discussion.

Lastly, let's say, hyptothetically, you're right. You and those four other people are the only mature ones in the entire nearly 200,000 people that have joined this site. You only post once every few weeks, but okay, you know everyone well enough to make a claim like that. Kudos for you, for pointing that out did you ever consider that it might cause animosity between the 'lesser matured' people? What, you think that because you say you're opinion is mature and therefore is the only one that counts, everyone will bow down and listen to you? You want Synth to step aside, and you'll take the reigns?

You need to step back and take a good, long look at your life, and what you're trying to impose on everyone else's. If you considered what you said from an outsider's point of view, they'd call bullshit in a minute. What you're trying to do may relieve your need for a rant, but it sure as hell doesn't help anything else.

I'm out.

Come on man, where's the love?

But I do agree that 95% of the members on this site have the maturity of 8 year olds. What would possess them to do the retarted things they do (ei: Oink) I will never know. It's just a mystery of life I guess.
