Guess what today is, the last day of Black History Month. Sure, he isn't exactly a Martin Luther King Jr., but if he became the president, it'd have a pretty big impact on many things besides just a few unimportant people(like us) saying "omg black". I doubt this chance will come around again for a while. What'd be really impressive is if we had a female Mexican as a president, but we all know that isn't going to happen anytime soon with the biases around. |

You could maybe answer your own question in a different way by asking yourself how many Mexicans there are that hold political office rather than just assume the only reason is because people are generally sore at mexicans because of the illegal immigration problem. |

No, there are a LOT of people racist against Mexicans in the US. More so than any other group, I'd say. Even if there was only one white man and the rest was Mexicans, well, America would be racist. It's terrible, but it's how it is.

A female could make a good president, but facts being, girls get periods. Not saying she goes psycho crazy on hers, I don't, but her judgement will be effected. If theres going to be a female president she has to have alot of control. A non-white president sounds better in my opinion. Whites are the majority for the most part, and don't see both sides. More opinions need to be shared and seen from. I was born in africa and raised in a very poor foster home, i'm homosexual and act like a guy most the time, I get discriminated almost everywhere I go. having a non-white president might shine some light on the discimination thing and help america see that we're all people and we all have feelings. I also heard that thier trieing to get Al Gore into the elections. I'll leave this at that. |

Lamoc: grammar, seriously. It's required both for the forum and for allowing us to understand what you're trying to say (note that "try" has no i or e in it, also).
First of all, I HIGHLY doubt the Democratic Party wants Al Gore to run when they have two popular candidates already running. Secondly, if what you say is true, why even mention it? He's not going to run without his own consent, so who cares? --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

Even if Al Gore did run there is a very little chance that he will actually get elected. There are many reasons why he probably wouldnt be but the major one i can think of is that compared to the other candidates he is kind of... dull for lack of a better word. |

No, no you can't. If you think otherwise you clearly haven't read the CT rules. Good grammar is required here.
We have a grammar guide as a sticky in Chit Chat. I am HAPPY to talk grammar with anyone who asks. There are a multitude of ways your spelling can get checked before you make a post. We don't expect perfect grammar, but I've had to wade through your posts a number of times to make sense of what you were saying. When that happens, your grammar needs work. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

The term racist is understood as an extreme (many of us would not consider ourselves racist, even though we hold some prejudices and stereotypes), and there will be people whose decisions will be influenced by race and sex (in the same way voters are influenced by facial expressions and tone of voice). The affect of this may be that Obama and Clinton attract a certain demographic, as well as deter another, so I think that the affect of racism may be somewhat overstated in this forum. I believe that with the momentum that the Democratic party has picked up, whoever is running as the Democratic candidate, will win. Last edited by dawgbarf; 03-1-2007 at 11:33 PM.. |

I'm a bit late on explaining this but I'll say it now.
I'm a conservative republican. I don't like Hillary, Obama, Gore and most liberals (just to name two) because I disagree with most of their views. Gay marraige I'm against, I'm for the War in Iraq and increasing troop numbers. I'm against unemplyment for increased lenths of time (a very maximum of 3 months), against raising taxes (which doesn't make sence anyways, it's proven lowering taxes brings more money to the government and the people). I'm pretty much for most military things like I brought up earlier. I'm against treating terrorists as US citizens (they don't deserve a trial if they are actually guilty, I say give them the chair). I'm against giving amnesty to illegal immigrants....the list goes on. There are many more issues that I disagree with liberals on. Now there are a few I'm in the middle on but almost none that I completely side with left on. Yet there are some republicans I don't like (such a McCain although he's more of a moderate) and many moderates I don't like either. And I'm not rescist or sexist so if a good (meaning if I agreed with their views) non-white person or female runs for president I'd vote for them. My only problem would be with any female presient, it would be harder for most females to fight wars effectively. Men are uaually better at the violence part of life (no offence to any women out there). Last edited by das1ngerplayer; 03-2-2007 at 04:52 PM.. |

You can't stereotype a single person by their race/sex. They can't be an average "white/black" wo/man, or else they wouldn't even be in the running for president. I think America is ready for either black or a women or even both to be president. It'll be a first, but then they will be like every other president and this whole race/sex thing won't really exist for the presidential election.

My main and ultimate concern!!!!!!!! You should all use caution here to.
Nature The world is not doing so well. Estimated 50-60 years left of this planet before we destroy its resources and the earth burns up because of the atmosphere. We realy have to find a president that will take this and DO SOMETHING about it. Mother Earth isn't doing too well. |
