Default The Atkins diet meets... MAD COW DISEASE!!!

you guys know what the Atkins diet is? what do you think about it?
Anyways, it's when you limit your vegetable intake. Basically, you load up to meat, mainly beef. It's sort of like "Since you like Coffee so much I'm going to make you drink it till you puke"

obviously, there are side effects to this diet, but it surprisingly works wonders (not from personal experience)

now that mad cow disease is back again... no more beef!

You really need to get a better grip of Atkins. It limits your carb intake, and has little to do with vegetables. Leafy greens are frowned upon, sure, but corn is a-ok. The mad cow disease cases have been isolated, and the cows are being destroyed to preven spread. It should be contained rather nicely. Only a few states have a recall on tainted beef.

You can also have chicken, lamb, and any other meat, so it's not forcing you to have beef. They also have Atkins Chips and Candy Bars out there for variety... Seems to me like you don't know what your talking about.

To end my little tirade, here's a joke!

Two cows were sitting in a field. One cow looked at the other and said, "So, what do you think about this 'mad cow disease?"

The other cow looks at the first and says, "Sure makes me glad I'm a penguin."

the atkins diet, although it is effective for weight loss, does have some nasty side effects. For one, because you live primarily off of body fat accumulated from non carb food, you increase the risk of heart disease and relatted stuff. Also, the lack of carbs makes you very tired. Finally, it is unnatural and hard on the digestive system. My sister was on it until she puked so much she stopped the diet.

Mad Cow, if you think of the number of people who died in britain and assume the same number of peopel die here, would give you a less than one in a million chance of dieing. Youre more likely to be killed by falling objects or struck by lightning.

I'm on Atkins.

92% of the things in this thread are lies. Read the book, form your own opinions.

Veggies are NOT limited. Just veggies with sugars, like carrots, beets, corn, potatoes etc.

quote = Leafy greens are frowned upon, sure, but corn is a-ok.

vice versa, hun.

And you only limit your carbs for induction (2 weeks) Then you add in HEALTHY carbs. (no sugar, or processed white flour)

I've had more energy than ever, I'm always doing aerobics. I love it.

Atkins is fairly bad for you actually. Carbs are very needed in you body, so it is not as bad as starving yourself, but it is still fairly bad. Your body adapts to the malnutrition, but it can do bad things to you before you adapt.
