For those of us who are unable to get better internet through either financial difficulties, or location, I was wondering, Synth, if it was possible to make a version of the FFR game a little more user friendly for us with dial up. It was kinda bad before when it was 549k but it takes a while longer to load it now, not to mention the 6 or 7 minutes it takes to just load a song. I and quite a few others would enjoy FFR ALOT more if there was a smaller version (probably with alot worse quality too). Mabey one where there is not as many graphics and bg music, but just lists the songs under a few catagories, and pick one to play it. I am not saying you can lower the time it takes to load the song, but all I really need to see is the arrows and music in the song.

You know, you can get cable internet for quite cheap.
I think DSL can be pretty cheap too, but I'm not that familiar with it. Really, there is no reason to use dialup in this day and age.

Some people are unable to get better internet because of their location. SBC is unable to come 15 miles from Stillwater,OK and hook better internet up at our house. I could get Dish Network Satellite internet, but that is like $90 a month AND if the weather is bad then we lose the signal. I have tried it all.

This thread sucks.... need your help Guido

The only thing we can do is have a build that would be approximately 300MB for download and it would have to be redownloaded once a week in order to have the newest songs.
Unless you can show me that we have a high percentage of low bandwidth users, I cannot justify making a low bandwidth version as it would require modifications of hundreds of files. Cheers, Synthlight |

Could you add a dial-up version with like ten top-played songs and no frequent updates or something like that?

Im all for dial up FFR. I once had to use that.....
I know Dial-upers might not get a good deal if you cut the pics, BG music, and other nice things.....even if you have to cut MP Chat then at least they get to play some MP without slow-down from heck. Please consider it. Last edited by MixMasterLar; 01-11-2007 at 09:25 PM.. |

I won't be able to get a faster connection till I turn 18 and out of my parents house, and that's a pathetic wait just to play MP. Please, something for dial up users would be appreciated.

the thing is... FFR is an intensive game, especially for Flash. you NEED a high speed connection for it to work properly.
it isn't up there with MMORPGs, but it isn't your rinky dink games from addictinggames.com either. contradictory to that, itmorr's suggestion isn't too bad, assuming it isn't difficult to do.

I have AOL, the worst type of dial up. To make matters worse, im in the middle of Bum **** egypt (Grafton ohio) There isnt anyone who provides ANY interent besides AOL, and AOL itself is half of itself (if that makes sence) not 56 or whatevr it is supposed to be, it is lik 26...... It takes 20 miutes to load uber rave.... :'( I still play though WOOOO

Bump! :P Don't hate me for it. It's a problem over two years old
I think that Itmorr's idea rocks. What's worse is that I am in Iraq. Straight from the Dialup to Iraq! xD From bad to worse....such irony.Edit: I do realize the necessity of having a list, so I am going to create a poll. A downloadable version of FFR would not only be the most awesome badass thing since toilet paper, it may actually increase the number of members on FFR. Edit: The Poll can be found here: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=109434

Not only are there not enough staff members active to do this:
The bandwidth costs for the site to do this would be outrageous, there is no demand for it, and there is pretty much no one to code it. |

You are not yet correct or incorrect in saying that there is no demand for it. The poll was created less than an hour ago. Do you realize how little people with slow internet can actually download? The bandwidth would not be any more than they are using now. In fact, it will probably be less: Most of the time when I am loading songs, they get half finished and then freeze. I have to restart the process over and over again. If anything, the dialup users will save FFR bandwidth by not even logging onto the site, using the bandwidth to sign in and load the pages, loading the actual game itself, and then trying to get different songs to load. Also, how many people do you think who have faster internet connections would use the program? A lot, if not most of them. It would be easier, more convenient, and a one time download. You would not have to reload the game over and over and over because it would be saved onto your hard drive.
