I'm going to give a huge thank you to Windscarredfaith and Specforces for realizing not all vegetarians are total brainwashed holier-than-thou morons with the retarded ideology that they can someday convert everybody to vegetarianism if only they piss off enough people.
Seriously people. In everyday life, I purposely avoid conversations about my vegetarianism. If somebody asks me about it, unless I'm feeling particularly masochistic, I will tell them that I prefer not to talk about it. If I'm forced to or for some other reason I have to tell people why I'm a vegetarian, basically, it comes down to this. I'm a logical person. I think that my logic here is flawless. That is not meant to offend anyone who doesn't agree with me. People disagree on things every day. That doesn't mean we have to hate each other. Humans can survive on a meat-free diet. Some would argue that a properly designed meat-free diet is healthier than one that includes meat. Almost all would agree that a diet low in meat is healthier than one high in meat. So I see no reason NOT to go vegetarian, or at least minimize my meat intake. It's not going to kill me, and is fairly likely to make me stronger. But then, people argue, okay, there's no reason NOT to, but is there a reason TO? This is where opinions vary widely. Some people see no point in a vegetarian diet, feeling that it's "natural" to eat meat. I dislike the word "natural" for these types of matters. We do tons of stuff that isn't natural. For example, this website isn't natural. The keyboard you're typing on isn't natural. Most things we use aren't natural. And if you feel this is irrelevant, because it's not FOOD, think of the way we herd up animals and farm them for our own use. I'd say that's pretty unnatural. I don't see lions herding up zebras and keeping them in cages so they can have a reliable source of zebra. So we've shown here that something being unnatural is no reason to discount it. If you really want a natural lifestyle, go amish. Now, that still hasn't explained WHY one should go vegetarian. Well, it's probably not best for everyone, but it's best for me. Here are my reasons. 1) I don't like the taste of most meat 2) I don't feel healthy when I eat it 3) I feel guilty about contributing to a terribly shoddy meat industry 4) It helps my spirituality. To live without consuming anything with a heart makes me feel more passive, less violent, and as though I'm impacting the environment less. I have seen statistics that back up my feelings, and I've also seen statistics showing the opposite. This is just how I feel. When I was younger, I did try to influence others to be vegetarian. But I haven't done that in a very, very, very long time. Honestly, it's just diet. Who cares. Get off vegetarians back. I would prefer that you didn't lump me into a category with PETA, a terrorist organization that I vehemently hate, or the crazy vegetarians/vegans who go around trying to preach issues to people who don't want to hear about it. I liken them to religious fanatics. Don't hate me just because many of those who hold the title "vegetarian" or "vegan" are morons. I am not them. And I will not try to influence you not to eat meat. Hey, I'll be happy if you decide that you agree with me and stop eating meat, and why wouldn't I? I feel it's better for the world. This is my opinion. This is my outlook. It's not going to change. And your outlook is probably not going to change either. All arguing will do is piss people off. Can't we get along? It's just diet. It's not brain surgery. I don't wanna eat meat. You do. This doesn't make either of us terrible people. There are reasons to eat meat. There are also reasons not to eat meat. It all depends on your personal philosophy. I hate to impose on others. I would prefer omnivorous people eat meat exactly as often as they'd eat meat if I weren't vegetarian, when they are around me. I feel guilty if someone tries to go vegetarian to impress me or in efforts to try to not offend me. I know that they would prefer a hamburger to that delicious tofu stir-fry I'm eating, and it makes me feel terrible when people go out of their way in attempts to mimic my diet in hopes of not offending me. I am not at all offended. Eat steak around me! Eat a raw cow, eat a dead horse, eat your pet dog, I don't ****ing care. Eat what you would normally eat, and please don't give a **** about what I think. I'd prefer not to impose. The only time I don't mind imposing is in order to get a vegetarian meal. I don't change myself for others. That means if somebody invites me to an event, I expect to be accomodated accordingly. They know what they're doing when they invite me. If you think "that's not fair, to make other people give you vegetarian food, it's putting them out of their way", think of it this way: I don't like meat. I don't like the taste of it. I don't want to eat it. Unfortunately for me, most people do like it and do eat it. Now, imagine you live in a culture where they eat a lot of, for example, rice. And you hate rice. You hate it with a passion. You gag when you try to eat it. When you are invited to events, you'd ask to make sure they make something for you that doesn't include rice, wouldn't you?

Didn't Jesus eat fish, a non split hoof animal? I don't know for sure because I'm not super religious and haven't read the bible word for word. Just a thought.

Isn't that the logical thing to do even if it's not natural? Heck, brushing teeth seems unnatural to me. It's natural to just not worry about it. I mean, animals don't worry about it, so why should we? I know you're not like other vegetarians and I don't classify you as one, nor is this post trying to incite a flame. I'm just commenting on your remarks. |

It sounds pretty logical to me. That doesn't mean it's natural though. Logical, yes. Natural, no.
