Look, I know (even though I feel I've progressed so much since when I started) I'm a noob compared to you awesome people, but I was wondering if I have any potential. Could you take a look at this vid I just of (I know you'll groan) CIA Rave? I know CIA Rave is one of those songs that there are tons of people who are good at it, so you'll think I'm a total noob, and I did it at 1:30 in the morning, but still.
What do you think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNgMIiDrR4s

not sure if I'd be classified as one of the "awesome people" to you, but as far as I know its pretty much impossible to tell from just one video of you playing... Everyone started out bad at the game, and practiced from there, not too long ago that's pretty much what my scores looked like though, and now I can full combo things like silence, or get top 15 on Molto.
All I can say is just keep practicing, although some good tips to get better faster are to play using your middle fingers and index fingers (spread... If you don't already) and to screen shrink (make your window smaller so you see less arrows on the screen at once). Helps you read what's coming easier and gets you a better PA. |

Yeah, I use my fingers correctly, I made sure I got that right when I started so I wouldn't have to relearn
![]() As to screen shrinking, I never knew why people did that before, thanks. I'll try that. What's PA?

It's basically the ratio of perfects to goods you have on a song.
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=37697 Pretty much all the terms used on this site related to scores are on that page, including PA if I gave a bad definition of it. Last edited by Jammer325; 07-21-2006 at 02:17 AM.. |

I don't play FFR (I play StepMania) and I know they are quite different, but anyway, here's the song you played (not exactly the same steps, but the patterns are pretty much the same staircase/triple-wise).
![]() I could have FC'ed it if it didn't have these ubertriples where I made all my goods and boos.. I've also tried to play the song on FFR but for some reason I can't play any song well on FFR. Anyway, I've been playing from June (I joined these forums at 31 may and didn't have the game installed yet). |

Wow very nice.. here's a tip.. shrink your screen so it is about half the normal size (so you can see around half of your combo). It will make you better, trust me.

Alright guys, thanks for all the advice and stuff

Want a tip? Don't play with 3 fingers on 1 hand, play with two fingers on each hand. At first you'll be worse because you won't be used to it, but in the end you'll be able to go faster. Put your left middle finger on the <-- arrow, put your left index finge on the \/ down arrow, put your right middle finger on the --> arrow, and put your right index finger on the ^ up arrow. Pretty soon you'll be a lot better all of a sudden.

I'm starting to think this thread is on the wrong board :S . Noob = someone who is new to a game and isn't too good at it. Either that or someone who just generally sucks at a game.
