It's directed at all of us, if you want to put it that way. All of us have let our ego get the best of us at some point.

"Do heaven and hell exist? Personally I believe they do, but where? Is Heaven in some far off galaxy, and Hell in depths off the sun? Or are they co-exsisting on Earth? Do angels and demons walk amongst us influencing our lives daily?" this is from a different board i found interesting

I also think that this debate is pointless as there is no way to prove that there is or isn't a alternative universe(s).

My theory on alternate universes: There are an infinite amount of them.
Think, in an alternate reality, there is no FFR. There is no electricity. There is nothing? So, what would an alternate reality of "nothing" work out?

Hey BlueFag0
The infinite universes theory has already been suggested. Read a thread before you post in it, dick. Especially one as short as this. |

I see that BlueFag0 is stupid and should not be posting on any forum ever again.

My best guess, Snapple, is one of two things:
Heaven and Hell both exist here on Earth (cliche much?). Or, that it's on a whole nother plane of existence. More of a spiritual sense or w/e... Just me though. And yeah, we can't prove a lot of this, but sometimes you hear an idea and it sticks to you. We wouldn't get that if we didn't discuss this stuff. If we did get into all that complex theoretical physics crap, we prolly could seemingly prove some of this stuff, but my high school bull-**** twat theories aren't educated enough to have a 'good' debate... oh well. EDIT: Mattyohh, I don't necessarily think that Heaven / Hell (in an idealogical sense, not religious) have to be bound to some 'God'.

I know what you mean about the not having to be bound to a 'God'. I like the idea of going to another plain (sp?) of existence when we die and having the freedom to navigate through out the universe(s). At school the only 'good' debate we ever have is over religion, but that is controlled by our chaplain so as she can make sure that the pro-christian side always wins. Anyway back on topic, the only way we will be able to prove Thorax's theory or any alternative universe(s) theroies is if some sort of worm hole opened up in out vicinity and we explored it.

Even if we did have an afterlife, I doubt it would be necessarily more "free" than this one. That would suggest that everything we know is a test of some sort, which is a very outdated theory.

On a Documentary i saw it said that the meaning of life is pretty much to continue on the species. Which pretty much translates to sex. So in a way the meaning of life is to do the 'nasty'

I can agree with that Mattyohh. I've always found it interesting though, how humans seem to have risen above the more basic living instincts. Damn emotions and conscious thinking... even suicide. Bah. But yeah, living for 'the nasty' seems good enough for me. Ever hear of the ladder theory?
RaiRai, what do you believe as far as what lies (or doesn't lie) beyond death? And is that yourself in your avy? xD |

We're just animals, except slightly more complex than most on our planet, with the illusion of free thought. Yes, we live for sex. Doesn't mean you have to live for sex (nothing wrong with that either), but that's why you're alive, to continue on the species.
About afterlife, I believe that anyone who suggests that they know or probably know what happens after we die is a total ignoramous. There is no possible way to know what happens; if we have life after this, if it's something entirely indescribable, uncomprehendable, and ethereal from our point of view, or if we're simply gone (not an inplausable suggestion by any means, I mean, you don't remember anything before your life, do you?) Synopsis: Enjoy your life while you have it. You could die any goddamn second. Also, to answer your last question: ![]() Yes. |

The whole purpose of life and all complex systems is to destroy energy gradients. The more complex the life, the better this is done, hence evolution. The purpose of reproduction is to further produce other destructive organisms.

Very possible, very plausable, MUCH more intelligent of a suggestion than any other random theories that have been presented in this thread...
... But stating it as if it's a definite fact is rather foolish of you. |

Considering how complexity arises from chaos in the presence of nothing more than an energy gradient, it's very likely. I'll be the first to admit that I have no idea what the absolute truth is, but this whole discussion is merely a matter of speculation; nothing is to be taken as fact.
I only find this to be the most convincing argument in light of all the evidence I've seen. Plus, NET is rly kewl. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

Also, yeah, Guido, your suggestion has quite a bit of merit. All I was trying to say was something you just also stated straight out - nothing in a discussion like this is to be accepted as a fact. |

Also Quido what about single cell organisms? They are simple lifeforms which are good at killing things for engery. They have not really changed all that much.

One thing- continuing the species might be why we exist, but it seems that humans (on the whole) seem to be less motivated than other species on this planet to procreate, and it seems more than coincidence that we're also (assumptively) the most intelligent. That's all I'm getting at. And that picture wins teh internet. Guido, I like your theory. The only problem I have with it is that dreaded 'e' word. Not to say I do or don't believe in it; it simply has too many inconsistencies that I've yet to have answered. @ Izzy, explain your statement.
