what would determine which copy you live as wouldnt matter. you would be you still, only there would be other "you"s walking around. they would be different people also, because what determines who someone will be is what they have been through/witnessed/believe. when you ask which copy you would live as, you sound as if you would switch to different copies because they are exactly like you.

Intuition tells me you wouldn't switch to one of the other copies, but I want to know WHY you wouldn't, since all the atoms and structural elements are identical in each copy. And I'm assuming the copies would be EXACT, i.e. same memories and personality and everything, so they would have all the same experiences and beliefs as me.

Oh, that question reminds me of something I once thought of.
We are all made from a sperm cell and an egg cell. So what would we be like if a different sperm got there first? What if the same sperm got to a different egg? Does this mean we would only be half our current self? Would we have never come into existance if the sperm-egg meeting never happened, but did at a different date?

I'm not afraid of death. It's the stake one puts up in order to play the game of life. ~Jean Giraudoux, Amphitryon, 1929, you must be willing to accept death inorder to enjoy life. And you must be able to enjoy life accept death. it is my motto when it comes to this subject. But when it comes to an afterlife i think that it cant be posible. I think about things like this scientificly, and when your brain dies your gone forever and there is nothing that any one can do to stop it. But if there is an afterlife ill be screwed for what i belive, i'll be in hell, reincarnate as a roach, whatever you belive in, which is what this whole subject boils down to, what do you REALY belive will happen, not what all the cristians say, or any other religions, what do YOU belive will happen when you die......

It would actually be quite a let down if we die and then there's nothing. I have two grand parents that i only met when i was very young and they died when i was around 2. So i actually want to meet them when i die.

Man when I die I wanna die in a cool way like exploding after saving the President's daughter. Yeah........
But seriously, I'm not afraid of death. I'm at peace with God so I have nothing to be afraid of. It's more of an anticipation really than fear. When I die (and hopefully go to heaven) I'll get to find out if Jesus really had dreads. XD

I think more people would be comfortable with death if they could choose when to die. Since we have a period of life that will end without us having any say at all, we are scared of it ending on us too soon. If we could live as long as we desired, we would feel open and spirited for death and would enjoy resting when we decided that we wanted our life to end. Therefore, since we do not have control over our period of time alive, we are afriad of it happening when we aren't ready. Then by the time we were ready(if we could decide), we would accept the fact of nothing after death or an eternal life that could never end after death.
No, I do not fear death because I am always ready for it. My strong Catholic beliefs have already convinced me that the end is near. Through Nostradamus's predictions, Bible Codes, and the direction the world is going in.-but that is a different subject. When the world is about to end, we will know the true secret behind death. Read "Tuesdays With Morrie". Learning how to die is essential in accepting death. Although, I do agree with the general consensus of the thread. I don't want to die too young, but I'm not afraid of it.

^^ same here, and i wouldnt want to live too long either. Age close to 100 is too old for me, it would also be nice to know(if possible) how long I have like if I have two weeks to live.

But wouldn't it stop ones fear of death if they knew they could take their time and die when they'd like?
Problem is, the emos, goths, mental people, ect... would kill themselves and so would anyone else who became extremely angry or depressed with themselves. |

True, Emos are leaning towards what's known as 'Skaters' nowadays. But for those who do fear death(i.e. eb, dancingmaniac, ect...) it would be much more conforting for people like that if they could determine their time alive. If they could die when they're ready.
