i'm not lying But really, there really aren't a lot of emos left because the majority of people who bash emos used to be emo but quickly jumped on the "i hate emos" bandwagon when it became cooler than being emo itself. |

I can understand being depressed and anti social. But since when has being depressed and wearing girl pants tie into eachother.

Everybody I know who is either paranoid, manically depressed, etc. does NOT dress 'emo' or act like it. I have a friend who is OCD AND Bipolar, so you can imagine that if something goes wrong while she's in a not-so-good mood, her body starts to understand the consequences. How does she dress? Well, like a burlesque queen.
You also have to realize that many people who are depressed actually have valid reasons. Another friend of mine went through a horrible childhood. She was molested when she was 8 years old, and her dad killed the man who did it. Now daddy's in jail for a couple decades, no visitation. As a result of this, her mother became a cocaine addict, that was eventually deemed unfit to be a mother. NOW, she lives with her grandmother, who believes that she doesn't have a mind of her own, and thinks that her granddaughter is plotting against her. Reason to be depressed? I think so.

It's OK to be depressed, but not OK to be emo.

Well, I also hate the ones who call themselves emo, but it's very difficult to determine who really needs help, and who is a rich conceited brat. There are mental conditions where you would cut yourself. Then again, there are emo-whores who do it in order to create more drama for themselves., becuase they're rich spoiled brats that want attention. So, while I hate the "emo" kids, I hate the damn "emo" sterotype being tossed around so carelessly just as much. Emo originally meant emotional. In which case, 99.9% of us are "emo."

Well, to all of the people that said emofags have no real problems, and that they're just making up problems and whatnot, they do have problem(s).
They: 1. Constantly want attention. 2. Want to be 'cool.' 3. Want to be someone that thet aren't. Quote:

I think we all need to get a little bit more libertarian on this subject. Why are you sick of what others are doing? Are they affecting you, or harming you? I like to imagine a world where people can define who they want to be, even if they are followers. Why is this such a terrible idea?

*FORUM NOOB ALERT*
Yes, This is only my second post on the forums, but, how is this ACTUALLY critical thinking? Sounds more like a matter of opinion to me (besides the arguing of his point, which is also influenced by opinion.) But, that's just me. The forum nooblet. -Gerilla |

As a person who was diagnosed bi-polar at a young age, I have been on medications on/off for going on 8-9 years now. I suffer from periodic panic attacks, and occasionally one will be bad enough to cause my muscles to hurt for days as a result of my muscles locking and causing a almost paralysis-like state for 30+ seconds. As a Theatre major, I am under amazing amounts of stress. I am very busy, and have many things to do each day and not enough time in which to do them. It makes me sick that there are people out there who act like they know what it is like to suffer from something you cannot control. I am not saying that life is against me, or everyone hates me. I know I have friends who love me. I know my family will take care of me. I love my life. But there are some who don't have the opportunity to take medication to balance them out. Some live in chronic pain and suffering....and no amount of work or propmtly-turned-in assignments is going to make a depressed person's life better. I beg of you....think before you type. Or at least do some research. |

It's not even emo, it's hipster which takes the 'fashion' from emo and leaves behind the attitude/pseudo-depression.
