I think IGN likes Z&W more than their review score lets on:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/797/797414p1.html "Buy Zack & Wiki Campaign 2007: You must by this game" http://wii.ign.com/articles/808/808771p1.html "Top 10 most anticipated titles of 2007 post-E3, Number 4 (1-3 being Brawl, Galaxy, and Prime)." |

i think a 9.0 is a good score... and i think they do those things to don't let the people pass the oportunity to play this game. wich i don't know yet if i'll buy it or rent it (mario galaxy, revenant wings and fire emblem coming next month, and i don't have a lot of money for 5 games )

fire emblem well is a given that's gonna be long and that's gonna have replay value (support conversations reveal misteries from the story) and well i think as any other 3D mario, galaxy will be long and with lots of things to collect. and that's not all remember that resident evil UC and soul calibur will be released on november.....geez that's the wallet killer month. and i only have a wii and a DS... my regards to those who have all 3 consoles |

Remember Super Mario Sunshine? Well I never beat that game because I don't own it, but I always went over to my friend's house to play it. Remember the one game that started it all? Super Mario Brothers. Thousands and thousands of people still play that game to this day, AND I can bet you there are atleast 10 people playing it right now somewhere in the world, whether it's on the original NES, or downloaded onto a computer. All this means that Super Mario Galaxy will (probably) have a very good replay value like the games before it. Also, I've tried getting into Fire Emblem, I didn't like it because it reminded me of Final Fantasy and the story line confused me. |

yeah it's true it has a replay value i can't deny that... but not a instant replay value.
i mean yeah i play mario 64 time to time. and i finished sunshine 3 times already (1 with every sunshine and blue coin) and well who can say no to the beggining of the legacy. but the problem is once i finish everything in galaxy get every....whatever i have to collect, i won't, you know after all that do it again the day after i finished? HOWEVER i can't say "i'm not gonna buy it first" right now because i still don't know how many things i have to collect in galaxy... it might take a long time. well i don't see a very big comparison between final fantasy and fire emblem (seriously very different gameplay and story), but well i get the storyline anyway so that's not an issue for me. the only bad thing of the game i think is that it doesn't have motion controls. but well it's not a big issue for me |

Replay values in RPGs are better?
Replay values for RPGs tend to be "Hey, you beat the game! Now do it on a harder difficulty and with a few extra side-quests thrown in!" I've never played Fire Emblem so I'm not completely certain, but it's been this way for every RPG I've ever played. Mario, at least, is "Hey, you beat the game! Now collect these, this, that, and those." Brawl would be the top choice had it not been pushed back. In terms of replay value, that is. |

RPG's do tend to have low replay values unless its so good that you just have to play it over and over again for like 2 years, but finding RPG's that are that good are extremely rare and to me highly unlikely. Now I've never played any of the Fire Emblem series either but judging from Roy and Marth's move on Melee I can say from that it must be a pretty decent game. But you won't catch me playing RPG's that often, mainly just action, adventure, racing, and strategy genres.

well sometimes it takes me a lot of time to get everything on a mario game. specially if i don't use a guide or if i have all the time in the world to finish it.
but fire emblem is not a traditional RPG like i said... is a tactical RPG (you know like advance wars). the replay value, well you're right on a higher difficulty is one, however in fire emblem games, stages on hard mode sometimes have extra things to make them harder, and last fire emblem had a secret final boss if you finished in hard mode. sidequest in fire emblem are different, the most common sidequest is the character support, ok this will be a little hard to explain, when you start a stage in the game you have a limited number of characters to use (the party in last fire emblem was of over 30 characters i think or even more i don't remember) usually you can only bring 11 to 14characters, well for example if you use both ike and sothe in more than 5 stages (this is just an example) they will be able to do a support conversation lvl C, if you use them again for other 5 stages they make a support conversation lvl B, and again a lvl A. these conversations usually at lvl B or A reveal some things not mentioned in the story and the characters also recieve a stat boost if one of the supported characters is near the other in battle. now here's the catch that made me play the other fire emblems a lot of times. every character can only make 5 support conversations in the whole playthrough, in other words you can only have 1 character with lvl A and other character with lvl B. so the next time you play the game if you wanna know more hidden things you'll be forced to use other characters. wich also force you to use a different strategy because you are using different characters with different stats (also play in a higher difficulty, and obtain more extras to finish the game again). i played fire emblem path of radiance 15 times... (of course after the 3rd one the game got shorter because i got more experience) to unblock every hidden character, obtain every secret stage, and at least get the most interesting support conversations. |

I just now remembered a couple other Mario games. Super Mario World had an extreamly high replay value and they remade the game for GBA. Also The New Super Mario Brothers... did not have a good replay value. I've beaten it one time. I have attempted to start over twice now and play it all the way through, but I'm just not addicted to it anymore. I only play it now for the minigames and multiplayer.

Let's not forget Super Mario RPG that debuted on the SNES. It was fun for the first time through but after a while it just get boring. I find it hard to believe that RPG's should even exist right now. Like you said, Fire Emblem may be a tactical like Advance Wars and Battalion Wars but the main thing that I hate about most RPG's is the fact that when battling an enemy, you take turns attacking and your character doesn't even move. *Even when the enemy misses*

yeah well not all people love RPG/JRPG/Tactical RPGs, but the people that does (like me) likes them because they are a challenge, usually have great story. and the way the characters are developed also gives them (not all but some) a sense of freedom. also they make you use your brain a lot and once you figure out a way to defeat an enemy(and you defeat it) it gives you a feeling of satisfaction , they reason they still exist? well people who love them just find them freakin fun, like pokemon, final fantasy, and in this case fire emblem. is the same reason of why people still play chess, checkers and other turn based table games |

but if you played one the only difference is well the story, the characters and addittions to the gameplay (however this one has 2 class upgrades instead of 1 wich means the game is longer than his predecesors). but i just noticed something.... it doesn't matter wich one i play first i'm still gonna have to wait a lot for the next game. i mean ok i'll get galaxy in december , the problem is i'll have to wait until melee and that's about 2 months. so i changed my mind fire emblem would have to wait XD, and galaxy will go first |

Btw, I might get the Fire Emblem on the Wii just to check out the gameplay, but I'm not making any promises about myself adjusting to this kind of game. Oh and does anyone know how long Galaxy is gonna be?

Lets not forget about one of the greatest, if not THE greatest RPG: Chrono Trigger. I say if they have any characters like Sonic or Snake in Brawl, they should get Chrono in there! There is a very slight chance of him getting in there too, because they have somebody who was on the Chrono Trigger team making music on Brawl.
This was in this thread and not the Brawl thread because it went along with the RPG's. |

i don't know how long galaxy is gonna be... but if it's like any other 3D mario game it should take a while to get all the stuff.
as for chrono being in brawl.... well that i'm not really sure, that's gonna happen, but well there is a little chance. what's the release date of no more heroes? it looks interesting |
