I can AAA these two with this mod but I didn't want to play them again because they both get on my nerves:

... Only on certain songs with lots of bpm changes... if there aren't many then it isn't. I agree on these songs it is. Not on ngcbd... I got like 50 perfects AAA without trying that hard on regular speed mods. Gravity is pretty easy to AAA now without cmod but cmod is really cheap on gravity as you can get like 25-40 perfects and without you gt like 65 with 4 finger. Max300 iidx it doesn't make much of a difference although I don't use it on that since the slowdown is the challenge. But without it i'd probably just get 1 more good.
It all depends on the song. Usually you can get nearly the same score without but these have bpm changes or stops which cmods fuck up and make the song easier.

Yeah, Cmods are cheap.
Even on songs like Reality, because part of the challenge is not having a good BPM for you to use. 2x is lower than what you would want, and 3x is uncomfortable, ewich is why I'm sick of Reach's scores on stuff like that. |

reality 2x isn't difficult AT ALL for someone our level to read... You wanna bet I can get within 10-20 MA and 2-3 PA of my reality score on 2x then? since it helps so much i shouldn' be able to right? I'll use his examples you saw my max300 v2 score on 2x mod.. 18 perfects AAA.. I'd probably get like 17 perfects AAA if I played the song perfect if I was on c600. Brace score is kind of low :S that you got. Brace on cmod is a bit cheap. Anything with bpm changes and stops is... otherwise not really. I already showed I got the same score EXACTLY within 1 perfect which is pretty fucking near on a song on 3x (550bpm) as c650 (my record was on 3x :P by 1 perfect). K I'll post one of my old gravity 2x scores I think its like 3 greats or something.

Nima - not everyone is like you and can AAA any song on any speed mod everytime (slight exaggeration)
I agree with Privateer that not having certain speed mods available is a part of the challenge. I mean for me personally, just look at the insane difference it made on my Arrabbiata score... The one thing for me tho is that I don't knock down other ppl who DO opt to use C-mods, cuz I have no say in how they choose to play... it just isn't as impressive a score IMO, that's all...

Well obviously its cheap on songs with difficult bpm changes and bpm traps/stops whatever.
I just don't see the difference in me using c600 on songs without them, when 95% of the stepmania population now seems to have modded metrics and is using crap like 2.5x and 3.5x, except why the hell would I have all these retarded mods when I can just use c600? I don't use it on bpm change songs...or if I do...i know its cheap :P

People have different comfort levels of reading. So what? On songs like Gravity, Brace Yourself, and Kick Your A, it does make a big difference and shouldn't be used. If there's one stop/slowdown in a song, it's not a big deal whatsoever. After a few times, a person should nail the stop/slowdown nearly 100% of the time anyways.
EDIT: Oh, and to Arch in the words of Arch. THIS IS JUST A GAME STOP TAKING IT SO SERIOUSLY. |

I'm not good at reading really slow crap. Then again, nearly all of us aren't good at reading 700+. But do we bitch at people like aperson and mwerp for using higher mods? No. It goes all ways. Everyone has their own comfort zone.

lol, my comfort zone is different on different songs... dunno, it depends on how much APS there are... if it's low aps, higher speed mods mess me up cuz I can't read the patterns as easily as groups... for example, I play max300 on 1.5... if songs have faster aps, my range goes up to a relatively standard 550 - 600... my fastest speed being below 650...
yeah I'm weird...

i completely agree with reach.... although i made weird mods like c432 and c361 or something like those for when i play on 1.3x and 1.5x music... they work out to be c550. and, yea its cheap for things like gravity... but i still find it to be an accomplishment that i SDGed/FCed gravity, even on cmod... songs like ViTA the slowdown in the beginning is easy and the stops are obvious if you play it 3 times, so i don't find it that cheap to use them... very few songs is it that cheap. maybe 10-15%, tops.

My comfort zone is about 450-525 BPM...speed mods only give me issues on songs with drastic BPM changes. Take a song like skor's P8107...part of it's going to be going way too fast or part of it's going to be going way too slow. Take your pick.

if it's not that cheap, then why do so many people use it if it's unnecessary? and enuff of that "I'm too lazy" excuse... as Privateer previously had pointed out, it takes all of like 1 second to change the arrow speed (if holding down tab)
EDIT: o yeah, another example... my Blade record on 4x is like 92 mill A... on 5x, it's almost 97 mill, AA... (I count 5x as modded cuz the recent alphas doesn't have it...) EDIT2: and I'm not jsut saying that C600 is cheap, I'm trying to say that all edited mods like 2.5 or 3.5 are cheap too, so long as they're being used to get the BPM into your confort zone...

It's more fun for me to play at my comfort zone (650).
I wouldn't use it on Gravity though. If I did, the score would be considered a cmod score (by me and others), not a regular score. |

my reason... i like reading at 1 specific speed... so if i have the option to play at that 1 speed vs switching speeds every song... playing at 1 speed is much better. my feeling is, any scroll rate is acceptable as long as there isn't a bpm change/stop that makes the file harder. modifications to scroll rate = not cheap.... modifications to hard bpm changes/stops = cheap.
and now i go to class... will debate more in a few hours.

Again, it's all RELATIVE. Tassel can read at 550 better than me. I can read at 650 better than him. Thus if a normal mod brings it to around his, but won't around mine, it's to his advantage and vice versa. It's stupid. The STEPS are what should make the song difficult, not the reading speed (excluding songs like Gravity/etc).

your conclusion that modded metrics aren't cheap does not follow from yur arguement that you LIKE reading at one speed...
Are you saying that you also don't think 2.5, 3.5, 6, or even 2.75 are at all giving you any advantage over ppl who don't use them? EDIT: so yes, then LET the other person have the advantage on that song... I concede that EP is better at faster BPM scrolls than I am... and YES that IS something to brag about... but that doesn't mean that I'm going to edit my mods so I can challenge him on songs that I suck at becuz of BPM... I just do as good as I can do, and leave it to him... and why SHOULDN'T BPM scroll have anythign to do with difficulty? even on songs w/o BPM changes...

That's your choice not to use them. I never said it didn't give an advantage. For some people like Nima, it doesn't matter. I do not think it's cheap, because I don't think reading should be an issue (again, other than like Gravity). Thus I think it is rather cheap that I would have to use 2x on Arrabbiata when a person like mwerp could easily use 3x. He can read at his comfort zone on that song, so why can't I? Isn't that rather cheap that because of the song's bpm and the default choices of speed mods that he has the advantage?

because in the case you gave, Mwerps comfort zone is BETTER than yours... he is BETTER than you at that particular area of difficulty of a song... similarly to how fast left hand stuff skrews me up... should I edit my stepfiles so that some arrows get shifted from my left hand to my right hand? It isn't cheap that he has the advantage in that case, because the advantage is because of SKILL... not the program... Mwerp will beat u at fast speed modded songs BECAUSE he is SKILLED at reading fast bpms...
