Q I wasnt trying to be politically correct, I do know that in most religions the religion is controlled by men but it is possible that a woman started it all

On a side note, I love all of the embracing of equality among men and women, but I don't see any women having a crucial affect on any major religions, sinse they're all controlled by men. (Speaking from a Catholic veiwpoint) "But all of the diciples were men, and they were left with the charge of leading the church, not women." Guess what? If they weren't men in that time period, Christianity would have gone nowhere, because no one listened to women seriously back then. Today is a different story: women are no longer oppressed by the world, but why are they still oppressed by (the Catholic) religion? That time has past, and it's time to accept women as equals in all aspects of society.
And, if 'preistesses' were allowed to marry preists, maybe sexually deprived preists would think twice before molesting small children. ~NEO |

It was also very rare for women to even be literate back then; practically none had the intelligence and training to form a religion.

I don't know if I mentioned this at all, but there is more of a reason why women are not normally in high up on the social hierarchy. They have physical attributes that hinder from their ability to function at full level most of the time. I'm mainly thinking about menstral cycles and pregnancy. Not the menustration causes any problems, it can, though, be slightly uncomfortable from what I hear. Even after pregnancy, maternal instinct hits harder than in males, making women use irrational decision to protect their children, sometimes well into old age. The children also seem to stick around until they are large enough to leave.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not sexist, but I do like to know the ultimate reasons behind social customs. This is what I think. Q |

Soooooorry...
I just wanted to clarify something that I thought about religion's origins. I believe in a mix of the commandments and economic principles (it's mostly the same thing). Q |

Well if the theory i came up with is true then it is VERY possible for women to have started this because the men thought it was a good idea and took it from the women and started to control it.

no, cuz in case you dont know, somewhere in the bible it says "thou shalt not worship any other god but me" or something like that, and for those that dont belive, how did everything get here? people, animals, trees, everything else, so god is the only belivable way right now.
and those who do belie, just keep believing in him, and those who dont, who gives a fuck?

Layladay and shevic, we're trying to be objective here. Your beliefs are honorable, but you CANNOT quote the Bible as a source of facts in an objective debate about beliefs. You have to leave your faith at the doorstop if you want to engage in meaningful debate here.

Since most major religions started LONG before the Bible was written...
I realize that you can draw similarities from religion to religion, but that doesn't mean that they stemmed from Christianity. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

That doesn't change anything. The bottom line still remains that you can't bring faith-based arguments into an objective discussion and hope to get anywhere.

I never suggested anything of the sort. You are, in fact, quite wrong in that assumption, but you won't see me basing my arguments on my beliefs, as they are not FACTual. Despite how much anyone believes anything religious, it's all just faith. Please forgive me for not reading the first page of this thread, but doesn't the topic have something to do with the rationality of the basis of one's beliefs?
