And, also, you're right, I shouldnt' be top if I'm giving up on R2. I'm giving up whoring this song for multiple reasons. 1st - Trying not to get mindblocked on this song which, I've already done off of mirror. 2nd - I have kids, I have work, I have a life. I whored this song yesterday and it took up way too much time. 3rd - I'm not trying to become an angry FFR player like I was 2 years ago before I left. So, there are more to things than just what meets the eye. Keep that in mind, Choof. EDIT - Carlos, as I've said multiple times to others, I'm not like that anymore lol. Legit turned myself around since 2 years ago. Sorry to disappoint lolLast edited by krunkykai22; 10-10-2014 at 03:38 PM.. |

It really doesn't have to be an exercise in anger, nor does it have to be one in futility. Take the parts you're really bad at, work them out with the intent of getting better (and not with the intent of knowing you're going to fail). It could do you really well if you stay positive about it.
I mean hell, I thought that RATO was going to be horrible in Kayla's tournament being that my best was 75-x-0-1xx, but I worked it down to better than that score I got in 2010 (which I thought was simply impossible). You are a R^3 player -- use that to your advantage and isolate the trouble spots. |

Lol, I love how the attention towards the fact I said "i'm not going to kill myself to improve" is incredible.
Just move forward, I made a post just stating how I felt lmao, nothing derogatory or insensitive it's just my playstyle. And, I guess you guys aren't understanding that it doesn't matter where I place, I'm in this to see how well I can do, not to destroy my hands again. I'm having fun playing FFR again, and hosting a tournament... Not to get trolled or deal with stupidity. ![]() EDIT - AJ - That's how I am able to AAA the Trills, I isolated them nonstop lol. IT's just the last 1/4 of the song just has it's awkwardness with me, I have NO idea why lol EDIT 2 - And I apologize if my posts seem angry. Believe me, I'm really not. lol Last edited by krunkykai22; 10-10-2014 at 03:56 PM.. |

It's the same kind of attitude of fk it as I have towards Yodeler right now, I understand
I did a random run today after murdering myself on Unorthodox Red and got a BF with the good not on the part I usually mess up. I didn't intend on trying to fix my 3g but it happened, still don't intend on grinding to fix it. I'll play it later since it's kinda useful for 60s diff. JS practice |

I'm sort of with krunky on this one. Not everybody that is in this tournament is in this to win it - that is just unrealistic expectation. Many of the players that enter this tournament (that actually participate) do so with the motive of answering the question "How good am I? Am I good enough to win?" I guarantee that the majority of the players play FFR on their own accord just for fun, or to see how many full-combos or AAAs they get, and never set foot in the forums or the FFR chat where they meet other players and compare scores, so this is really their first chance they've taken in sizing up the competition. And for those players that didn't AAA R1 but are still alive, they're probably thinking "Oh, I guess I can't win after all, but let's see how long I can stay alive."
After all, since when in the official tournament has a player not AAA'ed a song until round 5 or later? I don't have data to support this claim, but I like to think it never happened.

How are you even supposed to know how good you are compared to people if they give it their asolute best and you just play a bit more competitively than usual... idgi

Second try. I was expecting this song to be a lot tougher.
![]() Dunno if I'm gonna improve it or not. I feel pretty safe for the round. |

A tournament is a competition. Yes, it can be an exploration of how good you are, but the objective of the tournament itself is to declare a winner in each division. At the end of the day, it is in fact up to the player to decide whether or not they want to try as hard as they can to be the result of that objective. Neither side is right or wrong here.
People are just trying to be encouraging to someone who might have the potential to go a decent bit further if they took the time to hone in on their actual skill. |

OPKiller:
I understand that it seems a bit unorthodox for someone like me to prove just how good I "can" be by playing in the FFR Official Tournament casually. Trust me I know how that sounds and looks. However, for me, this is my 7th Official Tournament that I'm entered in. The last 6 I've tried my very hardest to make it as far as I can go, and (I believe) the furthest I've ever made it was the 4th round in D6. I've spent just about 11 years on this website meeting people, and playing the game religiously. I've done everything from starting a team (FKO) with MetalAtlas, to hosting very successful tournaments, to playing in Officials, stepping, getting involved in the community (hence 5k posts), etc. I've spent so much time in my personal life here, that being competitive for 11 years is just draining man. I've experienced everything good to bad on this site. I've been trolled, my kids made fun of, my wife made fun of, to being praised for good things as well. One thing I've realized is that no matter how much time I put in here, nothing means anything if I'm not having fun, at the very least. Everyone knew me as the *** (Asterisk Poster) because I always posted raged induced comments on the forums. But, recently, ever since I've returned to FFR, I came back with a new mindset in just being casual, and try to the very best of my ability, to have fun. That's what I'm doing. So in regards to the Official, I'm trying something new. I'm not whoring the hell out of my songs and getting frustrated beyond belief because it's never really helped me in the past, as shown. But, now, I'm already halfway to where my absolute best is, and I'm having fun doing it. If I can get passed Round 4, or even up to Round 4 with this mindset, I will have accomplished everything, in my view. You may not understand, and you may not want to understand, but I am somewhat still being competitive in the fashion that I even entered the Tournament. I'm just playing with a different mindset that is somewhat unorthodox as mentioned previously. Hope this post clears your question up for you OPkiller. td;lr - I am being competitive, but not in the sense that it's all I'm thinking about. I'm having a blast with this tournament. Truly am, and that is all I care about. |

Look krunky, I do encourage you to play and have fun. Though, even if it's maybe not what you really meant, your previous posts on this page and the last one do not reflect your very last post, is all I want to point out to you. ("So, I'm currently at 26th place. If I make it, cool, if not, it's whatever. 4 years in a row I've had one chart like Capoeira, that just royally destroys any chance I have. Might be my last official, kinda upset with myself over this crap.")
EDIT: btw yes I know you clarified that but my previous post was also directed to Minhtam oki Last edited by xXOpkillerXx; 10-10-2014 at 05:54 PM.. |

Woah I just read the thread.
KRUNKY MAN MAN you got this Also just realized how untimely my post was rofl If you're still up for trying the song, I'd recommend being able to hear your keytaps while you're playing. That helped me a lot with the trills. Literally go to the beat of the song. Don't worry about dropping goods: you'll naturally avoid that.

Also you'll jump up 5 spots even if you only shave off 2 goods. Another thing that may help is to just take a break from the file. Try not to worry about the official at all this weekend and try it again on Monday or something. The great thing about the official tournaments is that the rounds are long enough that you can clear your head if the song begins to frustrate you and/or you start developing bad habits. It pretty much comes down to what FG said: you have a solid score already and you can def improve it. Though don't feel bad if you can't improve. You'll know you put up an honest effort and that's all anyone can ever ask. |
