Like I told kmay on AIM the last night while he expressed a few of his frustrations with this tournament.
I like Hammy. We can start with that. I don't like him as a suck up, brown nosing sort of way either. I like him because of his generosity, character, and dedication. Now think about it this way. Hammy has spent the time to respond to EVERY post that has expressed a concern. He has done it professionally as well. Sure towards the last few he has been expressing some exasperation as well, but who wouldn't? He is putting a LOT of time into this and doing the best he can and you guys can't respect that and realize that it is a tournament? Please, give the man a break. He is working hard and doing his best to run an orderly tournament, and while you may have a concern or issue, it is best left in private messaging. I know Hammy well enough to know he would be happy to discuss any issues you had with the tournament in a calm and professional manner provided you (Anyone with an issue) has the maturity to discuss it and take HIS answer, even if it is no. Now, as for the constant whining about misplacing. You are placed in a tournament based on your potential and ability as seen by the host. If you have an issue, make an appeal IN PRIVATE but please, accept the answer and move on. In my first official tournament I was placed in Advanced. I had 23 AAAs, 86 FCs, and 1 tier point. My best FC was a level 8 song. But because I had that 1 tier point, I was in Advanced. I simply asked Sprite 1 time if he would consider changing it and he said no. So I took that answer. And I used that tournament to focus on my speed, endurance, and scores. I made it to round 3 in the tournament and I had achieved a lot of skill throughout it. The moral of the story is take it for what it is, a tournament. Use it as a growing experience and don't focus on just the credits. They are just there to give a little extra motivation. =) |

Oh, and if you're having trouble on a particular song more than other songs of that difficulty, chances are, your competition is, too. So just try your best, and even if you don't make it to the next round, at least you used this event as "a growing experience" like funmonkey said.

Its pretty much what I tell the complainers in my tournaments. Go run your own and then maybe you might have a better understanding of what we have to go through to place anywhere from 10-150 people and then pick songs that aim to challenge those people. Out of the close to 20 tournaments I have run, I have yet to make it through a tournament without someone complaining about placements or songs. Just keep up the good work Hammy.

People who run tournaments aim to pick difficult songs and by the amount of complaints, most of which I understand, it seems like its a pretty difficult song for most people to play. Not everyone is going to enjoy song selections and its a real pain to try and tailor to everyone else's needs. I mean, everyone has an opinion on a song and some times its shared by others like the song choice for all of you and then theres times when people are in disagreement over a song weather it be too hard or too easy or things like that. I understand that pain of having to play bad songs and Ive played in plenty of tournaments where it is bad song after bad song and it sucks, but you just need to buck up and deal, its not like the song is going to kill you or anything. The fact that everyone seems to not like it should cause a fair amount of competition and you only have to deal with the song till the end of the round.
Also, I do think if you have a problem with a song or placement, it should be done privately or just keep it to yourself. I know its been said already, but most of this will fall on deaf ears and complaints will continue to flow, thats just the way it is. Just deal and have fun, it is just a game. |

Haha, geeze...I'm surprised at how some people here can't handle one unsatisfying situation like this that's really not that bad. It's like people have gotten spoiled over the years FFR has been around and over-complain if a song isn't good enough to meet their expectations in a tournament. (As if the tournament song choice revolves around their tolerance.) I'm testing more than just your FFR skill in this tournament. I'm determining the social aspects you have as a member on this team and how you act in different situations pertaining to team activities. Props to those who've dealt with any song choice (and division placement) and took it on as a new challenge. I'm keeping track of those with a better attitude and they'll be rewarded. As for those who complain without clear, objective reasoning, don't expect any more responses from me. If you can't deal with an annoyance as small as this, you have some work to do.
Oh, and thank you to those who've been helping with calming others down. ![]() I'll do an update now. Round ends in about nine hours. |

Oh for the love of God, please don't! I don't think I can ever SDG this song, at least within the next ~7 hours.
EDIT: Not necessarily a SDG, but it does BARELY put me above Guru. If I hadn't freaked out near the end on the jumps, I probably could have had about 1/2 the goods, maybe 1 or 2 boos. Whenever I can tell I'm doing really well, I get so nervous and **** up. The gauntlet has been thrown ![]() ![]()

I apologize for the LONG post, but I felt this deserved to stand on its own.
I remember when M.A.M.A first came out - this was back when I still played 3-finger. I thought it was the perfect song for me since it only had 3 arrows, so I could essentially play it "spread" as if it were a normal 4-arrow song. Although my standards were much lower then, I thought I raped at this song (which equated to me FC'ing it with around 40 goods and 20 boos lol). When Blooddrunk was released, I made the ultimate decision to switch to spread, since I figured FFR was going to follow this trend of 3+ arrow jumps and other more spread-friendly files. Everyone raved about how much better you'll become if you switch to spread, and since I want to be the very best ("like no one ever was"...lol), I took their advice. My first time playing M.A.M.A on spread was horrendous. I thought it would be even simpler than before, but my practice using spread on other songs worsened my ability to read/play this song. After a few tries, I swore off ever playing M.A.M.A again, at least while I played spread. Now that it was this round's song, I had to lift the self-inflicted ban and face my fears. FC'ing it seemed impossible, since I couldn't managed to pass the 200 combo mark. The fingerings are awkward, and I seem to always do something different in the 32nd note runs. But I kept at it for several hours, and I managed to get my 1st FC ever since my 3-finger days with a 22-4-0-3. A couple more playthroughs, I cleaned it up to a 24-0-0-0. I was the only one to submit a score by then, but I knew if I stayed with this, I would surely lose this round. About 30 plays later, I managed to get under 20 goods. This felt like my limit. I was going to stay at this score...until other people started submitting. Just as I suspected, they had good/close SDG's. I now started praying that no one else submitted so that I could hopefully get to the next round and perhaps do better on a harder song. Next thing I know, I'm on the chopping block. After getting out of my Physics Lab today, I get ready to buckle down for what I expected to be a very long, very tedious, very frustrating night of whoring M.A.M.A. Lucky for me, it took about 30 minutes to get my 9-2-0-4, then about 3 more tries after that to get this current score here. 5-1-0-1. The funny thing is, during this playthrough, I really DID have to take a dump Quote:
tl;dr Version: I can't believe I got a 5-1-0-1 on M.A.M.A, and I wouldn't have gotten it if I didn't push myself like Hammy and the division sorters intended. Oh, and here's my score. I almost forgot to post it lol ![]()

Never mind. I quit this tournament. I'm not an Expert, I know myself better than anyone else.
I also quit Team Blue. Take my name off the list Hammy. Later guys, good luck with everything. (For those of you that are in the same boat I'm in, I wish you the best of luck. Dont waste your time if you know you've been misplaced.)

Classic guru right there. Some people enjoy the challenge and feel much more rewarded for accomplishing things they thought beyond their initial scope of ability. You clearly lack that mentality and probably hate things that aren't easy for you. The fact that you claim you will be number 1 some day is really laughable. I really doubt that day will ever come just from watching how you act in tournaments and such. On a much lighter note, I can't wait for the next round in...and hour and a half, lol.
