iON pad for $200
Usually I see this pad around ~$350, but here it's $200 with free shipping (lots of them).
http://cgi.ebay.com/DDR-iON-Metal-Da...item3362de97e3 as opposed to http://www.komusa.com/dadareionarm.html Seems legit, and it's one of the more recommended pads. Oh, it seems to be a version without a bar. Which may explain at least part of the price difference. I don't think I'd pay all that extra for something that can be solved with a little ingenuity. Anyone have input on this? I could go for a nice pad right now. I could also go for not spending $200. Last edited by Garquillex; 05-20-2011 at 12:22 PM.. |

Re: iON pad for $200
I have heard the iON pads are hit or miss. With only 30 day return policy, i would be cautious, even though this guy has sold 25. The fact that shipping is free really makes this a great deal.
I would take this offer, then come back for a review, cause i might buy one! |

Re: iON pad for $200
I doubt I'd be pushing it anywhere near any breaking points for a while, so my review wouldn't be too useful. Plus I've never used a pad before x_x

Re: iON pad for $200
The $200 one doesn't seem to include a built-in bar

iON owner here. I've owned my pad for 2+ years with no problems (after doing the foil mod). Still works perfectly, no issues at all.
I got lucky when I bought mine, I happened to find it at a thrift store for literally $20 (needed repairs, but i fixed it) |

Re: iON pad for $200
How does iON compare to ITG dedicab pads?

iON sensor placement:

However, the home versions of these pads (ITG to Blueshark as DDR to this) seem to give you less sensors, as well as different placement (a Blueshark has two sensors going horizontally across a panel, in comparison to an ITG dedicab having a sensor on each side of the square panel). |

Re: iON pad for $200
I'd love to actually take the time to make my own pad. However, the expenses involved would probably be comparable to that of buying a Cobalt Flux (or more, because I'd want a dedicab-style setup with four sensors on each arrow), but at the same time, I can cater it to my particular needs, and maintaining it will be incredibly simple because well...I'd be the person who built it.

Re: iON pad for $200
It actually wouldn't cost that much. I know I could get the parts machined by my school for cheap... Also Cobalt Flux isn't that great really...

Re: iON pad for $200
I bought the pad. My only complaint after 2 days of usage is that the up and down arrows scrape against the frame if I don't hit the outer half of the tile. Can this be fixed?
I was expecting the tiles to be more tactile and less mushy, but I've never used a pad before. Last edited by Garquillex; 07-24-2011 at 03:44 PM.. |

Re: iON pad for $200
I think I have an iON pad. It's a different colour, but the buttons look similar. Just a note, the backbars are really cheaply made and are hollow.

Re: iON pad for $200
With how much creaking and scraping noises this thing makes, and the strangely low price with no shipping cost, I wouldn't be surprised if this was bootlegged.
Anyone know how you could be able to tell? |
