ITT you recommend (old)RPGs
Hi. I only really play old video games because I can't afford nor do I have the time for 7th generation games. At the same time, I went a very long time without playing new games for the systems I already have/have had. There are very many games out there I've never had a chance to play. So, please recommend your favorite PS2, PS1, computer(dos box, emulator), and other 5th and 6th generation console RPGs. Thanks a lot.

Tales of Destiny II, as well as The Legend of Dragoon. Both are for PS1.

Re: ITT you recommend (old)RPGs
The Legend of Dragoon for PS1 was very good. I like how the battle system didn't rely so much on luck--all of the damages to/from one another are directly related to your/their stats, unlike the late Final Fantasy games where you would get a 10-15 point variation.
The battle system is unique too in that you have to learn how to time each individual hit in succession, as well as worrying about enemy counterattacks. The storyline is pretty nice too. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I've beaten Chrono Trigger and Legend of Dragoon. LoD is a great game and I recommend it myself.

Re: ITT you recommend (old)RPGs
Final Fantasy (insert any number here) SNES/PS/PS2
Legend of Legaia PS1 Illusion of Gaia SNES Secret of Mana SNES Secret of Evermore SNES Super Mario RPG SNES Chrono Trigger SNES Lufia SNES Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past SNES Wild Arms PS1 XenoGears PS1 Tales of Destiny 1/2 PS/PS2 Crono Cross PS1 Edit: Although I love the original SNES Earthbound best, this was posted on the forums somewhere a while ago when the translation of Mother 3 (Earthbound 2) was finally completed and available. It's a great game (played it about 1/4 through I guess) before I went onto other things. Great game, translations are accurate, everything perfectly done. Earthbound 2 (Mother 3)

Wizardry 8... PC RPG from 2001. One of my favorite older RPGs. Kinda plays and feels like it's from the late 90s.

Re: ITT you recommend (old)RPGs
Skip Final Fantasy Mystic Quest as it is by and large a piece of crap.
Chrono Cross for the PS1 is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. It's not very challenging (there's only one fight that brought me to my knees a couple times) but the story, atmosphere, and characters make up for it.

Re: ITT you recommend (old)RPGs
It was actually a pretty great game if you ignore the fact that have to replay it a few times to achieve all the different paths/quests. I hate a good renting it long ago, haven't been able to purchase it yet.
