Interesting input from everyone. However, even though someone doesn't play a lot of games doesn't mean they can't be a veteran. I've been stalking this site forever, I even have the standalone from the torrent that was uploaded when FFR went down because of the whole fiasco

Not complaining, just making a point. I guess I just feel like a veteran because I remember the posts of songs that came out forever ago, which are now considered legacy etc...

As for the tournament comment, I would stand no chance to win credits like that, I am happy if I can get all the arrows on one last battle or survive xdreamer, not actually win credits with my skills lol.

We occasionally have other spon-cons and events that have nothing to do with FFR skill. Usually we'll post em up on the front page.

Sure it does, because that's what we've decided "veteran" means. We've already got statistics that separately show how long you've been around and how much you've played, so no need to have something that just copies one of those, right?

Ah I see, I'll probably keep an eye out more from now on...not that I'm desperate for the credits anyway - I always just play FFR for the music.

Regardless of how you feel about veteran status, it really isn't difficult to get yourself some credits. If you really are a lurker of this site as you have mentioned, you would know about the various Spon Cons and other events that go on here you can win credits and support / event tokens from. Seriously, there is a holiday sing over event happening right now you can pull 20k from just by participating.

All it takes to get yourself a decent amount of credits now is a minor involvement in the FFR forum community. If you participate in events, custom tournaments, or get to know the fairly generous people that are around the site, you'll have lots of credits in no time.

EDIT: ninjas everywhere

Well, I think we have different definitions of the meaning of veteran. For me a veteran is someone who participates and has a history. In my case it's been a long time with not many game plays.

Not to take things out of context, but going by achievement alone is like saying that someone is only a war veteran if they actually killed someone on the battlefield (obviously don't read into that too much, it's just a general comparison, I don't want to start a flame war here)

Either way I'm bold and I'm old - but I'm no veteran haha :P

I don't need a veteran telling me what to do!

(jk, point taken, by lurking I mean browsing around - not doing anything useful lol)

EDIT: just to be clear my main concern is that the only way to get credits for a basic player is by participating in social events or playing for years on end at 8 credits a game if they stick strictly to only playing FFR with no bets, etc...I wish everyone had access to every song from the get-go (that could be me just being selfish though)

you don't just get 8 credits per song it depends how well you do on them

So, from 20k to almost 100k and then BAM.

10,000 21 seconds ago Lost
10,000 2 minutes ago Lost
25,000 4 minutes ago Lost
25,000 6 minutes ago Lost
10,000 6 minutes ago Lost
1,000 6 minutes ago Lost
1,000 7 minutes ago Lost
10 10 minutes ago Lost

And 2 lost whilst taking. 10 losses in a row. Cleaned.

It's not only 8 credits it's actually by how well you do on a song. I'm not sure if there's a cap anymore at all but AJ just said he's gotten 100 credits on a song before.

Haha I know that, I am saying my average is around 8. Depends on the song difficulty obviously.

EDIT: I hope you guys don't think I'm THAT dumb that I think I always get 8 credits lol

Oop sorry, wasn't implying that you're dumb or anything sometimes people that aren't really in the community much actually don't know these types of things.

Getting the community to be closer together through events is hardly a concern in my opinion. It allows for people to have fun and be rewarded both physically, and socially, through affiliating themselves with others who share similar interests they do. If anything hosting events, Spon Cons, and official (as well as custom) tournaments make Flash Flash Revolution stronger, not weaker.

Also the credit cap is 120, and it is actually rather simple to build up credits in the game if you take the time to practice and improve. Having secret and purchased songs (as well as skill / normal / support / event tokens) gives users more to do as their skill progresses. This game has a TON of content, but more invested players will eventually improve and complete all the songs, and no doubt strive to unlock everything they can. This is why new songs and tokens are always being added, so that way we can keep the interests of the experienced players as well as the newer ones.

EDIT: this is straying away from the thread topic, let's not derail this any further (even if I helped derail it a bit whoops).

Yes, but this still doesn't resolve the problem of the average joe...It's like saying "hey if you hang around us cool kids a lot and do stuff to entertain us we will reward you" - LOL ok maybe not quite that harsh, but I would like to think someone can achieve unlocking all the purchased and secret songs without taking bets, donations, civil service, etc...but that's just not true unless you have very good skills or A LOT of time. And i mean A LOT of time haha

EDIT: take me for example. I average 8 a game. If i count that every game lasts 2 minutes and I want to get 200000 credits, that means I need to play 200000/8 * 2/60 = 833 hours of FFR. Doesn't that seem a bit ridiculous to you? Even if we take improvement into account, I will never get more than 15 a game which means a minimum of 400 hours. That's....tough to deal with lol

Maybe. But as a beginner you're not missing much IMO. All the expensive purchased and secret songs are difficulties of at least 50 or so, and most are in the mid 60s and higher - so you basically wouldn't be able to read the charts. It does take a lot of time or good skills, but it also takes a lot of time to develop good skills, so if you spend that time on FFR you'll get as many credits as you need surprisingly quickly. And as you get better you'll unlock new stuff and keep having goals to shoot for. It's a great way to keep people motivated to improve, and it's not like there aren't enough songs available already - there are somewhere around 1000 songs that every new user can play, and it's increasing all the time. So if that isn't enough, then having 250k free credits won't help either.

And you'll definitely be able to get way more than 15 credits per game eventually, lol. Just work on full comboing. If you can play a song with about 600 notes and full combo it, that's about 15 credits already. Full combo a song double the length and it's 30 credits. If you work on getting better at the game itself, you'll be surprised how fast you can get to the level where 1000+ note full combos are quite doable.

i got vet just from playing, not a single tournament, and had the purchased songs as well. took me 5 years (which is including site downtime). it's possible
