I use 3.9+ because I can't move on from 3.9 and the themes are pretty.

it seems like most people still use 3.9x to me.

i've just recently switched to sm5. at first i couldn't play on it at all no matter what i did because it's so different in-game with the theme, but i added the old noteskins and reduced the reading space like in sm3.9x and now i really like it. it runs a lot better than all 3.9x versions for me

Rolls are cool in tricks in pad files and for a one-trick-pony keyboard file. Anything after that is just an annoyance.

Lemme guess, vista problems? You'll have to go into a hidden folder called AppData in you User folder to find changed made to files in your program folder. Best to install SM somewhere else, like in your User folder.

dont install sm to program files on vista and up, problem solved. i have mine on desktop.

not at all, they can be used creatively to emphasize some specific sounds/instruments/combination of sounds, however we aren't used to them, just like mines weren't used, except for REALLY rare exceptions, a few years ago.

rolls are hard to balance/incorporate into keyboard charts as a whole because of the difference in speeds required at different difficulty ranges

however they're definitely not useless. by far my favorite use of rolls is replacing a really fast bursty hypersynced trill with it so the difficulty doesn't spike

I don't think I'll be able to do anything more than Gravestoned because I'm working 6 days a week. So this will be the only file I will be HELLBENT on getting into this pack life > stepmania /realisticstatement

finally i get a working .sm :P! it's a fun, challenging file but it has too much jumps, i feel like pretty much everything is represented by a jump, i think a few parts could be changed to have more flow with less jumps/hands and it would make some of the other parts stand out more as well. a couple of the bursts were also perhaps a bit too much i think

nothing special ever happened, the file is pretty empty except for the parts with the 16ths, and those parts looked almost identical and were nothing special to begin with.

awesome holy shit that was fun as heeeelll!! great patterns, great length for this type of file, tremendous for scoring. accepted.

not that much fun since it didn't have very good flow. the tempo was so low and for a lot of the file there was just not that much going on, there were a couple of color note bursts in the beginning that were fun and when it became a bit more climactic in the end with the jacks and the a bit more intense pattern it got better, but still it did not have that good variation and it felt pretty empty. it's hard when the song's tempo is so slow like that

fun file. it was pretty good but i feel like a lot of parts could have been made better or even cut out

measure 1-8 i would make everything a jump since both the melody and the bass notes hit all of them
measure 9 here you have too many jumps since the the bass notes are more sparesely here
measure 24&56&264 missing jumps?
meausre 32&64&272 1 missing jump?
measure 36 the 3 down-arrows in the end aren't the same pitch
measure 48 color note melody stuff missing in the middle
measure 65-71 i think this part should be differently made with the melody and bass layered like the beginning
measusre 81-96 the backup guitar is just repeating a single note throughout 2 measure at a time... so i dunno what to do with this part really
measure 97-113&129-143 here the guitar also plays mostly repeating notes in a pattern of 4notes-4notes-8notes
measure 113-120 i would not put jumps to the highest notes in the melody, i would just put 3 hands or jumps to the 3 drumhits in the middle. but this is ok i guess
measure 123 missing cool drumstuff in the end
measure 149 the first snare hit is also broken like the ones later, actually almost all of them are in some way
measure 153-184 some drums are missing, and it's pretty messy overall with that backup guitar being jumps here and there. i think you should have jumps when drums and the backup guitar hits, and trips if the solo hits as well. just do the solo first and add an arrow to all the drums and i think it'll be much better
measure 178 missing notes
measure 217 i don't like that the backup guitar is stepped temporarily in this part like this because it's just repeating a single note anyway.
measure 249-255&305-312 once again i would like this differently with the melody+bass
