That's true. You can tape it, too. I've missed a great deal of the Olympics, and I'm upset about it...

Re: The 2008 Olympics
China is winning because the judging events are all done first. The athletic events are done last.
Track and Field has not given a single medal out yet. China does not do well on Track and Field. That's where USA, Australia, UK, NZ, Germany, Jamaica, Kenya, France, and Italy excel. Track and Field gives hundreds of medals alone. That's why USA always wins first in medal count. Except when the world is heavily communist. Also not in 1992 because Russia cheated again. Seriously look at this BS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified...ummer_Olympics But yeah we're on this list more than anyone else: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summer_...inning_nations You'll notice we're only not in the top three countries once. That was the year we boycotted the Olympics. But you also notice Russia is never there until after they became the Soviet Union. Germany is only in it once before they became Communist, then Nazi Germany and East Germany win a bunch. Then after communism loses, those guys fall to 2 and 3 and we dominate. Re: The 2008 Olympics
that reminds me, Jamaica is going to dominate 100m
Bolt is his name i think GOT 9.68, BEAT THE WORLD RECORD, AND STOPPED TRYING ABOUT 80m WTF!?!?!?!?! i think he will be able to get a sub 9.6 for the gold medal if he gets a sub 9.5... that will be better than phelps winning his 7th gold by 1/100th of a second IMO |

Re: The 2008 Olympics
Bolt set the new world record at 9.69 seconds in 100m
and once again, he didnt even run all the way through, he let up around 80-85m, slapped his chest, and crossed the finish line I KNOW this guy can run a 9.55 or even a sub 9.5 if he ran his hardest <3 now its up to phelps to get his 8th gold medal and ill be happy |

Re: The 2008 Olympics
0.0 wind for Bolt was amazing too. Most previous records have been set between 1-2m/s (max).

Re: The 2008 Olympics
Phelps reminds me of Tiger Woods. The way he won by a hundreth of a second on a spectacular last minute lunge. And the way Tiger forced a playoff lipping in that 18 foot birdie putt two months ago.

Re: The 2008 Olympics
Craziest things so far this Olympics: Phelps was behind for 99.99% of the 100 fly but still found a way to win.
and Bolt decelerating into a 9.69. Wtf. He should seriously go for a 9.5x sometime >< Last edited by ledwix; 08-17-2008 at 01:50 AM.. |

Re: The 2008 Olympics
What excites me even more than Bolt's 100M performance is his potential to destroy Michael Johnson's 19.32 (I think) 200M WR. Watching Bolt's final in the 100M, it almost seemed as if he decelerated before reaching his top speed because there was no need to burst through the finish. With an extra 100 meters to run, Bolt can take advantage of his ridiculous top speed and reduce the disadvantage of his "poor" start off the blocks, ideally to get a sub-19 second performance in the 200M.

Re: The 2008 Olympics
That's not really surprising. It's not like he had a bad start. Phelps is an end-race swimmer. If you watched the rowing events (and I don't blame you if you didn't) you heard them talking about it all the time. Some teams prefer to start strong and coast to the finish. Some teams prefer to keep it steady the entire time. Some teams prefer to keep it slow going into the last stretch then make a huge late effort. Phelps is the latter. In most of his races, the commentators mention how he explodes in the last leg to take the win. That's his style.
