Default A Thread regarding other competitive games (not including rhythm games)

I Don't really know how to introduce this thread, but...

Does anybody here play any other games competitively other then any rhythm games? For example, i play ssbm and ssb4 competitively, and i want to know if anybody else does as well. Not to mention, litterally any other game that is competitive, in the sense of trying to out beat something / someone. I'm mainly just curious about what games you guys are really passionate about, that's all.

Handball is a sport where I'm, despite anemia, somehow the most competitive and at least competent in. Unfortunately, my rarely seen super-tryhard attitude during our P.E games caught the attention of some 10th-grade sophomore girls. These girls were judgmental with everything I did. You could hear the remarks they made as I dashed around to take the ball from their team of all girls' grasp. ("What is he doing?" "Could you not?")

I was like Hungrybox when playing handball with them, basically very expressive. One girl asks if I'm 'special' while I'm jumping around and hyping myself up as a goalie. Words were exchanged as the game finished, and I somehow ended up breaking down and crying like a baby in the locker room.

There was another girl who would carry the ball around as she approached the goal. There's a box near the goal that people can't cross, right? Well, she crossed it every time and still manages to make almost no goals. At one point, I tried and held onto the ball while she was holding like a rat, and I got flipped onto the grass. In an indoor game, she aims the ball at my face and glasses, but it grazes my head like a Touhou hitbox. Note that the goal we used ended at my waist. There is no way she was aiming for the goal if she was looking straight at me with that hard ball in her hand. Also, she walks past me and trips me later. I recover, so thank gods I don't have more to tell here.

...this counts, right?
Sorry for the essay rant, I just needed to get this out for my sake.

SSBM and its Wii U / 3DS sequel are two games I inherently play competitively. I barely touch Melee since I only play it with a school club every Monday.
Does Dance Dance Revolution count if I'm competitive against myself and my own scores?

Personally im a very competative gamer. Give me a rank mode and leaderboards and im in. Generally i tend to be more attracted to shooters, but thats more to do with my skillset and practice than me just likeing them more. I've made it to the highest rank in uncharted 4 and ghost recon phantoms, and i breifly hit mg1 in csgo. Aside from shooters i've dabbled a bit in brawlhalla and hace been enjoying it.

I really enjoy a good competative game. Competing to prove my skill and wreck some noobs is a good way to spend an evening. Ranked matches tend to provide a good challenge against similarly skilled players and a close match can be the most fun. A good game for me is one where i can personally carry my entire team. I love working with a team to win a game, and those tend to be my more favorite experiences, but if teamwork is thr only way to succeed then the game gets frustrating. A game in Which i feel like there is nothing i could possibely do to win is the worst. I enjoy playing support, but if im stuck there and the "skilled" people on the team arent doing anything where i could be doing better, it gets frustrating. Its sort of the same idea as failing without a clue in what you did wrong. Either confusi g game mechanics or poor communication from the game just suck. Pretty much this is why i dont like mobas.
