Hey Beethovens Mask, I remember you!
I think there should be another official tourny, but I don't think any staff member feels like managing it. Would be a fun idear though. |

Re: Official Tournament.
A lot of people still joins and its kinda fun, to have so much competition even if half of them are BS.
I talked with dani(mfdat) about this a long time ago, and we where thinking that the best host right now would be Kayla and AJ. I would have love to do it with Dani, and still ask for their help, but I don't think people would choose us over them. We also have Velo...

It's actually pretty neat to see people actually recommending me and Kayla for running the tournament. I'd definitely try to coordinate things with Jimerax so that we could use new files on occasion (heck, maybe all new files if the queue could support it) and Kayla's pretty good at managing the tournament as it's going on. Getting the dashboard working would be awesome too, but hey -- manual updating isn't all that bad even with this many people. |

Re: Official Tournament.
I would do it. AJ and I have talked about it before lol. Yea we do have the baby now but believe it or not we can still manage to find the time to do stuff. I've actually been managing school work pretty well. It was an adjustment at first but you get used to it pretty quick. As per the move that'll be over on Saturday lol.

Re: Official Tournament.
I still find it ridiculous that Top Players who get like 9th place in the highest division can't have vROFL while an unknown D1 player who somehow avoided being correctly placed can sneak up and get it easily and then we wait a year again lmao..

In fact, looking at the dashboard for D1's final, you'll see that second place, Sei-Triplex, ended up with a score of 31-2-1-15 on the final. Anyone remember what the final was? I sure do: Magical 8 Bit Tour. Considering that this person also got a flag on round 5, I'm fairly certain they either a.) had someone play for them, or b.) somehow cheated. ShuFFs (D1) got disqualified after botting a RATO score. Oilers in D3 somehow managed to get 13 on Red Wings Over Baron, but coincidentally had issues with songs in the first few rounds? Either a massive massive skill jump, or he was sandbagging. We also know the whole issue with OneHandNow, and how he actually survived one round after being moved from D3 to D5. It's a known fact that people will go far enough to cheat at FFR, just to glorify themselves, at least in these tournaments. |

And this, my friends, is why VROFL should only be awarded to people in D5. I am not saying you can't have the other divisions... but there is no reason they should get prizes. Seriously. Think about it.

Re: Official Tournament.
I wouldn't say that other divisions don't deserve the title, but it's a little bit harder for lower divisions to achieve the token for placing top eight because there's always the chance that people cheat. It's unavoidable.
EDIT: well, it might not be quite as bad with the community size being diminished, but you never know. |

Re: Official Tournament.
Not everyone has a camera. When I was playing in the 4th official, I didn't have a camera. I'm pretty sure AOD_Element was asked to make a video, and he pulled the "I don't have a camera" card.
Again, it's sketchy. However, I have no issue with asking for video proof and giving them a certain amount of time to make said video before getting DQ'd, because I highly doubt that there's a single person who can't get access to a friend with a camera. |

Re: Official Tournament.
I guess I just don't get the concept. If a player that gets, say, 12th in D5 is clearly better than a player that gets 8th in D4, why should the D4 person get the prize? It just makes no sense to me.
No one here is handicapped. Now, I would have no problem with having a one handed division (obviously tough to enforce) or something of that nature where the people in that division cannot physically compete with the best of the best. But other than that, we all have hands and our skill levels are totally dependent on how much we play. Why should we reward someone who is just simply not as good? Again, I am not saying there shouldn't be lower divisions. Players with less skill would have no shot in D5, and they obviously will have more fun competing against people with similar skills. However, they shouldn't get prizes that way better players cannot obtain. Also, I don't care about vROFL. I don't want to sound bitter and I am not campaigning to get it. I am just making some general comments on competition in general. I guess I was thinking about it because a similar concept came up on a running message board where someone was suggesting weight classes for running. Yeah, good idea. Let's reward people who are lazy and fat by letting them not have to compete against the runners who trained hard to lose weight and get in shape. Sorry for the book. Back to the studying for a test I should have finished studying for... 3 hours ago.
