BETA offline
I recently got a new laptop, and I wanted to bring Blue Rose and Reality to school with me, so I could practice and get good scores when I returned home. Before I broke my old laptop, I used to play FFR at school all the time offline on the nonBETA version, so I thought I could do the same with BETA. I tried, and failed. Whenever I try to play BETA offline (by loading the song, going offline, and clicking "try again"), the game screen goes blue. This doesn't happen with nonBETA FFR. Reasons? Solutions? I really want to play FFR in school. It's such a loss.
I go on my account, open FFR BETA, load a song, leave it as is on the results screen, bring it to school where there is no internet connection, and click "try again." The game screen goes blue. I can do the same exact thing with nonBETA on my account, and it works fine. That's what I've been doing since I started this game. School is a bore otherwise... Scores don't record, but I can play the song on nonBETA without the internet connection. Does BETA not function without the internet?

I can't play beta at school either.
No beta + crap keyboards + 256k internet + outdated P3 Win2K computers = massive fail

Re: BETA offline
SM doesn't have FFR files. Or at least SM is not supposed to have FFR files. I don't know where to get difficult songs. I can make my own (That's what I use SM for anyways...), but the ones I make, I AAA instantaneously, regardless of its difficulty (I AAAd a song called Destroyer101, and it's very close to that of Eradication).
Anywhere I can get "good" SM files then?

Re: BETA offline
hi19hi19 has (in the FFR simfile db) a reality file which, IIRC, is pretty similar to his FFR one. Yesssss made a file for Blue Rose which is in the SMGpack, and while it's only about 2:40, the difficulty and style are pretty similar to those of stargroup's FFR file. Other good SM files can be found in the smgpacks, the odipacks, the keyboard collaborations, etc.
If you have a problem with being able to AAA stuff easily, then go for the AAAA. Or try a harder judge difficulty.

Re: BETA offline
...Back on topic, the same thing happens to me when I disconnect with my friend's laptop at school. I think FFR programmed the Flash script to end immediately when it's not connected to the internet to avoid people cheating challenges by disconnecting internet and playing them unlimited times.

I thought that it was because BETA needs to recognize that the computer has access to a subscriber's profile through the internet... so maybe this will fix itself once BETA goes public. As for SM, I'm fine with playing my own stepfiles, like HEAVEN'S GATE and Metabo Taisaku (I need to AAA SOMETHING, once in a while to keep my self esteem), but I can't screenshoot it and have it count as an FFR score... and. I'm not smart. Real Midday is smart, but I am not. Miku is probably smarter than me too.

Get some song packs from http://houkouonchi.net:8080/packs/?S=A or http://izzysm.mine.nu/Other%20SongPacks/
The hard packs in izzy's site might be of some interest to you. |

Re: BETA offline
I suspect the issue may be that the FFR Beta is only playable by logged in subscribers, while FFR is playable any time by anybody.
By disconnecting from the internet, you are failing to confirm that you are a logged in subscriber, thus no beta. |

Re: BETA offline
what devonin said.... beta is programmed only to work for subscribers. try to play it when you aren't connected as a subscriber to the database... it won't work.
