New Usergroup Icons Feedback

This thread is to collect feedback on the new usergroup icons introduced to the forums August 1st.

In this test run, we are hoping to gather your thoughts on what makes this an improved or unwelcome change, and how we can help better (or ultimately remove) this new style choice.

What are your opinions?

Am I the only one who has been seeing these icons for at least the last 3-4 days? lmfao

Anywhoozle: I didn't like them at first, but I'm warming up to them.

My issue is with the placement.

Maybe instead of where it says "FFR Veteran" under your Avi these icons could appear there instead? I think that'd make a bit more sense to me aesthetically.

I think they're cool, but I thinking moving them to that spot would actually give them a more proper purpose along with removing that "FFR Veteran" part altogether. I think the icons do it better.

Are you using the v4 theme? Cuz that's why you've been seeing them.

Xel, the vet status line isn't supposed to be there. I was not at home to change the code over so it wasn't done. It will vanish tomorrow.
As for your positioning suggestion I will take a look at trying that out, that sounds like a decent idea.

It might take a short while to remember which ones stand for which, but I like them; this is a good solution for giving everyone the recognition they deserve but without all the clutter.

At first glance I didn't like it. And then I tried to imagine it as if I were new here--it would intrigue me. Maybe I'd want to get involved to get a silly shape below my name!

It's so funny to me that people are saying this; it has been in place since it was released last night, haha.

No, no halogen. It isn't there. It gets added seconds after anyone requests it. That's how good we are. 8)

I never bothered checking to see if it was already working since I'm on my phone and do I couldn't check lol.

I personally find this to be a tremendous idea. The best example I can come up with is AJ himself. Dude, I think you had so many titles that they were a bigger stack than your entire avi haha. Looks much smoother now.

The only complaint I could have (and boy, this is a nitpick) is that I'd like them to be more vivid. The colors aren't bland, so to speak... They mostly look washed out. I don't know if adding a pixel-wide black border around them would help, or if simply picking more vivid colors would do the trick. Then again, vivid colors can get annoying, but boy I do love me some rad red or some lavish lavender!

Edit: I think the shapes you guys chose are a great idea, though. "The more the sides, the higher it is in ranking" is subtle, yet smart and efficient. Good design on that!
