Default For ITG players...

How many of you enjoy streamy stepcharts? Is it now the favorite over technical charts?

A -lot- of people enjoy streamy charts. I fall somewhere in the middle -- I enjoy playing some complex charts every once in a while, but there's nothing more rewarding than just constantly pushing yourself, haha.

Technical charts can be great fun, but because of the broad range of different stepping styles you can include it's easy to include things that totally put some people off (most top american players and crossovers, for instance). Streamy charts are just streamy though, so you know what you're getting with it, and if it's to a good song then you can be pretty sure you're going to enjoy it. Also you know that if it's one you find challenging that by doing it you're working towards building your speed and/or stamina up. I suppose streamy charts are more rounded workouts in that sense, and people find them more useful for boosting their skill than technical charts.

Although I've gotta say, I love decent gimmick charts more than both. Anything by BoxX, things like Hyperactif from Mungyodance, and stuff like this Pollinosis chart are always great fun to play. I also love that you have people like Taro, Windeu and Jayce who are pushing the limits of what can be done with SM/ITG in their own way

I prefer files with a lot of movement. I like DDR's concept of doing many turns, but DDR stepcharts have weird doublesteps that will turn you into a pretzel especially if there's a crossover stream right after. Not to mention some of their crossovers are just total ass to decipher.

So to answer the question: Yes, usually slower streams with more movement though. There's nothing more aggravating to me than seeing a person complain about crossovers when they're doable and that person clearly has the speed to manage them and is able to read them.

For me, stream > anything else as long as it isnt terrible patterning.

Anything that is overtechnical, loaded with crossovers, or a bunch of stupid rhythms really makes me never want to play it.

streamy charts are definitely fun, but I lost a lot of my fitness over the last couple of years so I can't do a lot of them anymore x.x

I usually prefer more technical charts that don't have a lot of crossovers though. Overuse of them can get really annoying

I do like streamy stuff, on DJ sharpnel songs for example. Streaming along this kind of music is really fun.

Then, for music between 130-170bpm, I prefer when they have lots of diffrerent patterns, footswitches (god I love footswitches), jumps etc...
Since I play mostly nobar, crossovers and even stuff like Afronova walks aren't a problem for me, so I enjoy them.

I play in Mission Viejo, CA, so sometimes the players there play nothing but streamy charts, and I could say it has made me have such an enjoyment pushing myself to my limits. That's how I passed my first 15 footer.

I stay with some techy stuff now and then, usually when I warm up. I gotta say, lately it's been fun playing ITG over there again. lol

Wait you go to mission viejo? So do I haha, maybe I know you. What's your name, are you part of the itg Facebook group they have?

As for the question I like a lot of things, usually whatever gets the emotion of the song across best, and that's streamy a lot. Also I really like the can you survive it factor of streamy songs.

I'm really bad at constant stream, so I tend to prefer songs with broken streams and somewhat technical stuff.

Stamina is more fun to me, and for harder difficulties I think it is easier for people to do when compared to 220+ runs. This makes stamina files and therefore stream-ier files to seem more appealing to most people I know at higher difficulties.

Stream is great because you don't have to think while doing it...
