Awesome New Permission
I emailed JT Bruce last week to see if he'd give permission for his music and got the following email:
Blanket Permission for all songs. His music can be listened to for free at last.fm (includes description of him and whatnot): http://www.last.fm/music/JT+Bruce If you are interested in making a stepfile then you can download the music, for free (and legally), from the following link: http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/jtbruce |

Re: Awesome New Permission
Quite simple really. We both sent the same person a permission request email and he replied to us pretty much at the same time. Then I came on and posted before seeing EnR's thread about the same thing.
Rare but it happens I guess. I don't care because in the end a permission is a permission no matter who gets it and if it means JT Bruce in FFR then all the better. |

Re: Awesome New Permission
Nice permission
I see that all he did was copy paste what he sent me into your email xD Edit: Nice to see someone with a good taste in music getting permissions.

Re: Awesome New Permission
Haha yeah but a lot of the ones I've been going for are never going to happen.
Cases in point: Magna Carta records and Insideout Records. Also, I was checking out Hiromi's label "Telarc" who allow use of music, but their form explicitly states that they will expect royalties no matter what, so that is that one out. Also - Yeah I mentioned that he CAP'd your response to me in your thread. These threads should just be merged and called "LOOK WE REALLY HAVE PERMISSION NOW GUIZ". |

Re: Awesome New Permission
I'm going to try and get Circus Maximus, but it might be tough, I'm going to send an email today to either their record company or to them.
Can you send me in a PM what you sent JT as an email, since mine was badly made.

Re: Awesome New Permission
Here is the template I made and the one I use:
Dear (name). My name is (name) and I am writing to you today on behalf of the website FlashFlashRevolution (http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/). May I first say that I really enjoy your music. (paragraph on how you found music / why it is awesome) The site I referred to in the first paragraph, FFR, is an online rhythm based game where you hit arrows in time with music, it was started in 2002 and we currently have over 1.5 million users and a large fan base who enjoy a wide range of music. In the beginning we used independent artists, but in order to increase our range of music we can offer we need to get permission from bands and artists to put songs to go into the game so people can play them. The full list of artists we currently have permission for can be seen in the following link: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=68438 May I just take a moment to say that FFR is a free-to-play website and FFR does not earn any money from these songs. We do not sell or redistribute the music either. This is purely for entertainment purposes. I feel that if we got your permission to use your songs on our website then we would be able to get more people in to your music and that we would have some incredible files for people to play. In conclusion, I am writing for permission to use your songs on FlashFlashRevolution.com. You do not have to permit whole albums, even a song or two would be enough if that is all you want to offer. If you allow permission for a song, then we will offer the song to our talented step artists who will put arrows in time with the music and that will then go into the game once it has been perfected over a few months. If you have any more questions regarding my request, or have any other questions at all then please email me at the following address: (email) I look forward to a reply in the future. Thank you for your time. Yours Sincerely, (name) I change it up here or there if I need to add anything in but that's the basic setup. |
