Re: Zageron's Music Recommendations
Absolutely. What makes music so interesting is that music could be interpreted so differently. It's pretty neat if someone has a similar interpretation, as well.
Your picks have been quite diverse, very nice variation of tracks. Windmill is definitely a keeper, along with White Flag. |

19 -- Alright! I'll start writing little reviews for each of the songs I've already posted, and then start filling them out before I post!

Re: Zageron's Music Recommendations
Sleepless
Extremely chill funky tune from Rangarok Online. Another one of my absolute favourite tracks of all time, sitting tied for 1st with Anwar's "The Friendly Wolf" at 113 plays, 5 stars, and a last.fm heart. Though I've played Ragnarok Online for a very long time, I don't really remember the song from the game all that well. I've been listening to the music by itself for far longer than I've played though, and this is without a doubt the best track in the soundtrack. 21

Re: Zageron's Music Recommendations
Towers
One of the first songs I listened to and enjoyed from 'real music', as dictated by society, introduced to me by my sister. It's a fantastic song which stays similar to instrumental music enough that it worked as an excellent segue, into the realm of lyrical music, for me. 22

Re: Zageron's Music Recommendations
Here is a music recommendation outside of my usual scope! Still catchy as anything!
This is a tune by one of my university professors, who taught me Physics and Sound at SFU. It's a fun folk song, you'd hear while drinking at a community pub in Vancouver. Still Crawlin' 23

Field of Gale
At first I thought this was vangelis, then it blew my mind. Reminded me of Zelda, tbh after vangelis I thought it was zelda, but nope it's Ys. xD 24

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
I'm actually surprised that I haven't posted this tune yet. Nausicaa is probably my favourite Ghibli movie next to Spirited Away. 25

Re: Zageron's Music Recommendations
I have to get to Hisashi's work eventually - I've been overlooking his work for a while.
EDIT: You seem to listen to a lot of OSTs from him.. which OST should I start with? I really enjoy most of Tenmon's works (5 Centimeters Per Second, ef: A Tale of Memories/Melodies), so I think I'd want something similar. Last edited by EzExZeRo7497; 06-11-2014 at 11:13 PM.. |

Re: Zageron's Music Recommendations
Sorry for not posting any recommendations over the weekend. :] I was off volunteering, and then having some good family time for fathers day. I'll post a few today.
Let Her Go This is Let Her Go by Passenger from All the Little Lights. It's a fantastic sway-back-and-forth song. Easy to sing along with, and has very good layering of all of the instruments that were used. Possibly generic? Possibly mainstream? Meh, I think it's quite good and a pleasure to listen to. 26 @eze, I'd start with Mononoke Hime. It has the widest spread of music typed, and does a stupidly good job of kicking you in the face with good feels. The rest of his works are equally good, but when I introduce Ghibli to people I generally show them Mononoke Hime. It has a serious style which doesn't alienate non-anime watchers, like most of the other studio works. Try to find the original soundtrack, and if you haven't watched the movie I'd recommend watching the movie before listening to the music. (Find the movie in 1080p, or don't watch it. x____x) Last edited by Zageron; 06-17-2014 at 04:14 PM.. |

Monkey Smash
A super nostalgic tune from Donkey Kong 64, by Grant Kirkhope. It wasn't the best multiplayer battle arena by a long shot, but it was still great fun. Especially for people who grew up with DK64 as their first major video game. Grant works magic with his earlier work, this is no exception. 27

Scholarship of the "Grim Reaper"
The opening sequence song for GOSICK, a pretty cool anime. Gets you super excited regardless of whether you should be or not. Reminds me of Harry Potter a bit. Fun listen. :3 28

I kind of see where you're getting at with the Harry Potter part. Pretty nice song c:

Re: Zageron's Music Recommendations
Now this. This is something else. It's on a whole other level to most music. It's progressive something, **** if I know. It's weird, fun, relaxing, downtempo, and kind of psychedelic. Definitely block out all other sound sources when you listen to this, and try to listen in the dark or with your eyes shut. It's quite a trip. 29 ---- :)
