Default play-asia 1, amazon 0

Just ordered Disgaea DS.

Amazon had some stupid "restrictions" thing going on that wouldn't allow them to ship it outside of the US (same as Rock Band). Play-Asia were just like "ya sure, whatever here you go just pay us".

I am happy because I didn't want to wait until "Spring 09". I've never played Dis1, only ever Dis2 for a few hundred hours.

Disgaea DS + Fallout 3 = My life for the next few months hopefully.

Anyone else got it, how does it play?

I have it and it's amazing.

The one problem I have with the game is that it's extremely difficult to level up your healers, but I think I just found a way around that. Disgaea DS is the first game in the franchise I've played, so I'm still getting used to all the mechanics. I'm still figuring out how to increase my bonus gauge over levels 1-2 without changing geo panels.

Getting a good bonus gauge is all about geo-chains. Get used to them.

With regards to leveling up a healer. The best way in Disgaea 2 was using the dark world map 1-4. You had 8 mages around level 100 on reverse-damage panels. Use healer to heal them all causing massive damage and killing them all.

Use dark assembly to pass the max number of "make stronger enemies" bill. Grind a little. Each killing of the 8 mages (now level 1000+ I think) would net you a ton of levels.

Not sure how that would work in Dis1 (which this basically is) but just find a map with a lot of reverse-damage geo-panels and use your healer.

Yeah, I really despise those restrictions that some online shops have by refusing to ship outside of the US. They might have technical reasons, but it sounds so self-centered.

And Play-Asia is good. I've ordered several times from there.

Some of the levels with really nice prizes don't really have great geo-chains so it's difficult to build up your bonus gauge. At the moment, I'm nearing the end of Episode 7 and I believe my median level for my characters is around 20-21. It will be along while before I can even do leveling like that.

EDIT: Also, discussion about ROMs is against the rules on the FFR forums. If you really want to talk about it, IM someone, just don't do it here. But you should really support NIS, Disgaea is an amazing game and there's no reason to hurt a good game making company because you aren't willing to pay several dollars for a game that easily provide hundreds of hours of fun.

Play asia is more international while I think Amazon only ships to you if you are in europe and the US. I think thats the difference. gaming wise, Play Asia is better because, well, Play Asia is for gaming with more selection while Amazon deals with a diversity of items that branches to everything and not just gaming. From the look of the site though, much of its customers look like they are in Asia though since there seems to be more of a flux of NTSC - J games than NTSC - US and if you do have to pay shipping charge, most of the shipping is from Asia, so it is more expensive. Unless there is some kind of wearhouse in the US.

PS: I may be wrong on some of these facts. Feel free to correct me.

Amazon.com ships worldwide, just costs more for p&p.

I've only noticed the Amazon.com thing recently. I normally use Amazon.co.uk (living in the UK and all) but for things such as certain games that come out in America first I try American sites. I bought Pokemon Diamond from Amazon.com because it came out a few months earlier than here in the UK, I see no reason why Disgaea DS should be any different.

The Rock Band thing was the worst. They don't allow you to ship Rock Band but decide to make it cost twice as much in the UK. I'm still boycotting that until they bring down the price to at least match the US price.
