Re: Left 4 Dead
All the zombie sounds are one guy. His name is Mike Patton, and he was the lead singer for Mr. Bungle and Faith No More. Pretty sure he's the boomer vomit voice, too. The dude has the most elastic vocals.
Also, fun game, etc etc.

Re: Left 4 Dead
Hahaha, speaking of the boomer voice, I heard a rumor that the person doing the boomer's voice got really blasted so that they could record him doing the vomiting sound. That made me laugh when I heard that.
In all seriousness--that man morphs his voice VERY well. |

Seriously? that's awesome.
Anyone know how to get the Crowned achievement? I've tried the sniper rifle while she was not startled and the auto shotty to the face when she's startled, head shots just wont work.

Re: Left 4 Dead
They will. Aim for the base of her neck, where the hairline is. Walk up behind her, wait for her to turn her head, and when she starts to stand, shoot her. You can't damage her until she's startled. It took me a few tries to get it.
Now, killing the Tank solo... Since I don't play online - yet. I have to kill my entire team first, and then manage the encounter on my own. And Mike Patton has an incredible voice. I suggest listening to California by Mr. Bungle.

Re: Left 4 Dead
If you want to kill Tank solo, be the first to spot Tank and then melee it. Doing a melee on Tank usually makes it change focus to the person who did the melee. Once you do that, tell your AI to stay where they are and have Tank follow you into an open area. Toss a Molotov, and then just blast it up with the M16. It does take some practice to get Tank to not kill you solo, but the easiest way to do it is to seek shelter as he's picking up boulders and take a few shots at a time. Or, alternatively, if you are in an open area, just make sure you know the area well, and backtrack while shooting, turning when necessary. If you do this properly, Tank shouldn't be advancing enough to hit you.

I'm playing on the 360. Can you still give player commands? If so, whoops.

Re: Left 4 Dead
Ohhhhhhhhhh, that's tougher. D:
I think you should still be able to give the AI the same commands though. It's actually a really good plan if it works too, because if the game decides to try and screw you over by throwing a smoker/hunter after you, the AI will come to your rescue. Of course, they probably will have shot at Tank by now, but at least you won't die, and you can get another shot later. |

God, I am so excited. 2 more weeks until Christmas... and then I get the game. I'm kind of upset though because I have a friend on the 360 who I told about the game and that he should buy it, etc. and he did... A couple days after the game came out... And so now he has almost all the achievments done and I'm mad. xD I really love this game. I also wanted it for the PC... but seeing as my dad is a Mac freak, er... not possible. |

Re: Left 4 Dead
Aw, you have to succumb to the slight limitations of the XB360 in comparison to the PC. Be glad that you have the game though, I have to play at a gaming center to have the experience hahaha. It's still worth the money. =D

Re: Left 4 Dead
I play on Xbox 360.
I've played this game almost every day since I've got it, and I still love it as much as I did when I played the demo. If anyone wants to play, just add me. (Gamertag = MacGravel 2) Just set the game to easy, and go straight to the No Mercy finale. Once you kill everything (before the tank spawns), call a vote and set it to Expert. Kill your team really quickly, and vote it back to easy. Then just hit it with a molotov and run for about 40 seconds. He should drop and you should get the achievement. |

Anyway, expert mode. Frikkin' hard. I end up dying more by friendly fire than the actual zombies. And it doesn't help that the regular ones do 20 damage per hit. Anyone else have better luck with expert mode than me?

Re: Left 4 Dead
I've beaten every stage on Expert mode, except Blood Harvest. I got to the finale, and 2 team mates quit out, so it was just me, a friend and 2 really stupid AI. I haven't tried to beat it since.

Start a split screen co-op game on No Mercy on the grand finale. The second player isn't needed. Go through the entire campaign, leaving your partner in the safe room. When you finish the finale go and run towards the helicopter. I've found this helicopter to be -very- safe against the AI tanks. Simply shoot them with your auto shotgun. A full clip should be enough to kill it. If you have an AI partner with you, try to get them killed before you get on the helicopter. Usually one will stick with each player making it a real pain to get onto the helicopter and survive. Also: Mike Patton did the voice of The Darkness in.. well... The Darkness. PS: Yes. I'm still around. If anyone cared. |

Re: Left 4 Dead
I just got this game for christmas, its awsome... but what would be more awsome is playing with people who arn't 10 year olds or noobs who can't heal themselves. Any offers my gamertag is in my siggy.

Re: Left 4 Dead
I've never played, but I'm not sure it would go over as well with me, cause I'm a Silent Hill fan. It sounds more just zombie-ey than scary, and scary is what I dig (and believe me, playing Silent Hill 3 on a projector in your friend's garage at midnight where the highest brightness level is still 2 or 3 tones darker than the game recommends, that's pretty scary).

Re: Left 4 Dead
You know what would make this game better? Any kind of RPG elements. Any. Kind. Like, leveling your weapons. Getting points even for killing zombies or tanks or something. I mean, I like the stat tracking, as limited as it is, but there could just be so much more done.
