Starting my final year in highschool tomorrow
I'm not sure what would happen in college after this, not to mention my final year in highschool.
Alot of my friends seem confident with this year, i'm not, i have no experience and pretty sure don't know if i can make new friends in a new transferred school, i'm just some guy tapping arrows i wonder if they'll like me playing VOEZ or some other phone rythm game but eh, it's a long stretch how far that would take me in terms of friend making. |

Re: Starting my final year in highschool tomorrow
Okay so here's a bit of backstory on me, that may help ease your mind:
My last year of highschool, I literally had 0 friends and 0 social skills and 0 experience. But, in the end, university really helped me come out of my shell. You'll find that beyond highschool people are much more matured and willing to talk to people, and you'll find as well that there are a lot of people in the same situation as you too. Just be yourself, and try to be confident (optional), and people will flock to you and you'll flock to people naturally.

Re: Starting my final year in highschool tomorrow
I played sports throughout high school (football, wrestling and rugby). I made a ton of friends from that, a lot I still hangout with today (I'm 26 now). It doesn't really have to be sports though, just something that makes you part of a team and you'll naturally make friends from just being around each other everyday.

Re: Starting my final year in highschool tomorrow
Can't do sports but can help people with their studies, i see alot of people come in and ask me for my help (in my high school years) for the most part it helped ''mostly'' as i
didn't get messed with but nothing significant either, to them i was just this guy that knows the answers for my next test, after that i didn't like it so i stopped, alot of people got angry and decided to mess with me, one person took it too far so i retaliated, but not in school, i wasn't dumb enough for that, i got into a fight somewhere near the school after shift hours and, you guessed it, duked it out, i'm not gonna give you any messy detail but we pretty much ended on a high note with adults breaking the fight, after that my school classmates thought i had (balls?) which led to me having a bit more respect from other classmates, but that's over now, i'm in a new school and i pretty much don't have any capacity to do what i did in my last year again just to not get messed with, i might act like a jackass who knows nothing about subjects but i'm not sure if that's the best approach for me, Ofcourse, i could just not care altogether, but that will still have some sort of consequences at some point this year |

Re: Starting my final year in highschool tomorrow
The timing of this seems weird to me, or the title is misleading. Are you continuing your final year in a new school and it is your first day there? Can you explain the timing of this? It doesn't seem to follow you could be having a first day of a new year in school in the middle of November.
As for the making friends thing, Celirra pretty much nailed it. But I don't practice what I preach about making friends, so take it with a grain of salt... People in college are, as a general rule, more mature. If you go up to someone and talk to them, they will pretty much always respond to you. Boom, potential friendship. If you live in the housing on your college campus (if they have it) it is even easier. Keep your door open if you don't want to leave your room and people will come to you. Especially if you're making a ruckus smashing your keys on rhythm games, they will be bound to pop in your room and see what's up. And this works both ways, if you see someone with their door open, just pop in and say hello. Sit down for a bit and chat with them. Ask people to get meals with you, that's a really easy way to meet new people and make friends. The same things apply for high school, honestly. Definitely 100% just talk to your classmates. You can ask them questions about where things are in the school or what professors/classes are good/bad. You're new there, they will understand, and you might hear some funny stories. It is admittedly kind of awkward to talk to new people, but it is a really great way to make friends. And like Sanjixcon suggested, get involved in something in the school. Ask some of your professors if they would sponsor you making a rhythm gaming club. You sound smart, so see if you can tutor underclassmen. If you don't want to go that far, take a look at the clubs the school has and pick one that interests you. Honestly, if that stuff doesn't work out and you don't like the people there, just keep to your studies and graduate like you normally would. It sounds like you plan to go to college, and trust me, there is a HUGE new pool of people on college campuses for you to meet. New activities to get involved with, new classes, new people, it really is a completely different experience from high school. Best of luck to you, buddy. -o24

Naww. So young :') joining clubs helps with making friends, if you guys do that! I joined almost every club at school (mostly cos it looked good on my final report haha), but it also helped with socialising and meeting new people. Even if you're super awkward, like I was in highschool.

High school friends don't even matter. Life starts after you graduate.

Re: Starting my final year in highschool tomorrow
Out of experience I have made no lasting friendships with other kids in school. The friends you want are the ones that you click with and you'll want to stay friends with.

Half my friends are from high school, and I graduated 10 years ago. Your logic is flawed.

Re: Starting my final year in highschool tomorrow
i met a friend in middle school by sitting on the yard during an earthquake or fire drill and us finding out that we both like runescape
it might be easier to make friends if you find out that you both like the same things maybe you could ask a few people whether they like something you like or wear a t-shirt of something you like to do you can also ask to sit by someone who's sitting by theirself during lunch or recess you could also join or create a club of something you like to do and maybe you can meet people who like something you like i joined the anime club in college and it's a lot of fun and i even found out that some people play super smash brothers wii u next door; even if you don't make a friend you can still have a lot of fun doing something you like with other people there's plenty of time to make friends though so you don't have to make a friend this year; you can still have fun either way also i really think it'll help if you be yourself; if you try to fit in by pretending to like things you don't like you probably won't have as much fun even if you do make a friend

Re: Starting my final year in highschool tomorrow
It was actually pretty good - active in sports, had a group of good friends. Does it matter to me now? Not really. Did it matter at one point? Sure.
If you guys want to argue what I thought about my high school experience, be my guest haha.
