What really grinds my gears?

Metalheads that put down each other's favorite artists. (See: Metallica vs. Megadeth)

I like some thrash metal, don't get me wrong, but the fanbase could use a pair of positive panties.

i was just wondering because there are an absurd amount of people out there that are just like "omg i like to everything!!!!... except rap and country bc they suck lol"

it's ok to have preferences and dislike certain genres and such but if you're going to act cultured in music as a complete know-it-all you should at least understand that there is musical merit and a degree of skill to field hollers, bluegrass, dubstep, indigenous music, mongolian throat singing, etc. before writing it off because you think it's bad music

as a musician that's what grinds my gears

This completely.
I dislike rap to an extent but it's not horrible and I don't diss it. This is actually what ultimately grinds my gears.

I remember having a brief argument about music with another musician who blantantly considered several genres as "not music at all". Everyone has personal tastes, but if you're dismissing the merit of certain genres as music, and you're a musician yourself, then that's just sad.

Mainly agree with adlp also, sounds like you described the average teenager lmfao
(or they just listen to rap / country > see plenty of kids at my old HS for example)

Also, Herogashix hating on Skrillex isn't cool either. What exactly do you not enjoy about his music? The following -- the retarded fans that just listen to skrillex and shit up comments? Hate them too.
Do you hate his production? Please elaborate. While I don't enjoy everything he puts out, mind you I have it all, I still think he is a capable producer and even rather versatile...
I just hate people who claim they love dubstep and cite Skrillex (and deadmau5 who makes fucking house not dubstep), and the people who blindly hate on him also.
[Take this from a guy who's listened to Skrillex when he released his first EP and is still listening to him after Leaving EP]

Hehe, I remember all too well, also. Making such a claim is absurd, disgusting even. No one is going to be upset if you don't enjoy a certain genre, at least I won't,
but discrediting and claiming it's not music? That's just offensive and ignorant.

know it all posts like this. Especially when it's not relevant.

Person 1: "Hey could you turn that music down. It's really loud"

Person 2: "No. You have to listen to it and recognise the merits. Bwahaha"

My least favourite genre of music is rap/hip hop, so going to a party has it's downsides since that's pretty much all anyone ever puts on. I've learned to deal with it though.

lol "okay"

did i not point out that everyone has their own preferences? im not that sort of militant musical theorist who points out individual musical components in songs. if somebody asks me to put some specific type music on their ipod i'll put whatever kind of genre they ask for and not throw in some random grindcore songs because i think "lol dude you HAVE to appreciate this drummer's blast beats at 280bpm!!!"

so nice try

Dealing with manufacturing errors. (Bottle caps inside of a sealed water bottle, a straw closed on both sides and a screw with no grooves to grab it with, ect.)

People immediately assuming they can generalize things based on one experience bad or good. Definitely applies to music, but for everything like food and shows and things to do, etc.

Also, people who immediately put faith enneagram personality models/consistently rely on it.
