I hate installs
I really like to blame Microsoft for this but I'm sure it happens with any computer running any OS. I'm sure you've all experienced the 100% install delay lag? You know when you install something (e.g. games, programs, etc.) you will install it all the way through smoothly with no problems (most of the time) but once you hit 100% almost all the time you will still be installing things on the comp. Even at 100% you can wait forever for these little minor files that flash billions of miles an hour across the file install status area of the install screen. It gets so annoying. For instance, and the reason I bring this up, I was installing 3DS Max 9 and I hit 100% and I still waited 15 minutes for it to finish, which after waiting about 30 minutes for the install in the first place, it gets real old real fast. Also, another thing, I reformat my computer every month to ensure it's stability and performance. During the partition of the HDD I'll hit 100% then I still wait precisely, and I timed this, 1 hour 21 minutes, and 56 seconds, give or take a few seconds. Every damn fecking time. This shiz gets so damn annoying, I'm gonna start taking a bat to my computer for every time it does this. DAMMIT!!!

Re: I hate installs
That sucks. My computer does this too, but it's not as epic. Only 3 minutes at the max.

Re: I hate installs
It also pisses me off when the install bar isn't accurate. The bar will be really slow the first %20 then shoot to %100.

Re: I hate installs
Wait, Windows sucks? This is news to me. Breaking news.
I could've never imagined that Windows is not the epitome of perfection.

Re: I hate installs
If you want perfection, get a Mac. If you aren't satisfied, download your Windows program onto it. Mac is 100% compatible with Windows.

Windows Vista is more annoying with its "Are you sure you want to install this because it could be a virus highlighting our flawed OS" screens. They are so damn annoying. It takes 4- clicks to download and install a program.
Get a mac if you want to keep your sanity. ~Windsurfer-sp a former windows fanboy.

Re: I hate installs
It's compatible only with the help on Parallels or other virtualization products like it, and you can only use those if you have an Intel based Mac.
I've never owned a Mac but I've seen Parallels in action and it was not perfect then, and I doubt it's perfect now. Even if Windows virtualization was perfect, that would mean that all the problems with Windows go along with it. |

Re: I hate installs
For what I need my laptop for Vista Premium is great! I have no issues, and all my software from XP has worked great. I have heard many of my customers complain about Vista, but the problems are usually solved 5 minutes after they come in. Most of the issues are human error, or hardware incompatiblilties.

Re: I hate installs
You can install Windows on a mac with Intel using bootcamp for free. I just don't want to run windows natively, since I rarely need to use it.

Re: I hate installs
VMware works pretty well, but it was pretty far from fully functioning last I checked, it's probably better by now I'm sure, but it's still windows no matter what hardware it's running on.
