Speed mod suggestion!
After a few weeks after beta testing the new speed mods, alot of suggestions to get 1.875, and complaints on 2.25 being too fast, I bring to you a crappy suggestion!
My suggestion is custom speed mods! What am I talking about? You know how on SM you can edit the speed mods to where you have it EXACTLY the way you want it? Well on the settings on FFR, You could type whatever speed mod you want in C form just like on SM Where would it go? Well look at this half efforted SS! If backing that 1st row of mods to the more left part of the box is not possible, maybe take out 2.5X. You type out the number you want and the higher the number, the faster it runs. To avoid bugs on this one, I would limit the lowest at C100 and the highest at Whatever you guys might limit it at. With this, you can make your own 1.875 or your own mod JUST over 2.0X! If this somehow gets on FFR, we would have to know what C numbers are all the speed mods so we'll know what number to type. This may not be the best suggestion but this is just one thing that'll stop people from complaining at mods being too fast or too slow. |

That would be cool, but I could only imagine how hard that would be to code.

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
All we need is a R2 scroll bar.
Adding speed mods probably isn't easy, which is why I assume they haven't done something similar to this already, maybe one day we'll get something like this. For now I'm fine with 1.75, I can read 2x, but it's too choppy, high speed mods without good framerate is pointless IMO. I'll wait for 3rd style >_< Last edited by [TeRa]; 09-21-2008 at 09:58 PM.. |

Search for old threads related to the topic. They tell you why it isn't so easy...

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
That's exactly what I was thinking earlier today.

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
R2 is more xmod than cmod in order for R1 to have a scroll bar that would mean they would have to code in every single littlecmod from 100 to whatever to have it be lik in R2

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
Wow, this would be a great addition to the game, but like alot of other suggestions, frame rates would probably the first on the "Let's make this better" list. But yeah, imagine the coding required. Each person will have the chance to customize their rate from C101 to CXXX. Every speed increment in between will have to be mapped right?

In order for the scroll bar to work, they would have to code EACH and every individual mod within the scroll bar, which is a ton of work. I'm highly doubtful that it's going to get done because it's a ton of coding. |

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
Then why don't they code for increments of x.125 or x.0625?

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
If arbitary speedmods can't be generated and have to be coded completely separately I have to ask why.

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
I think coding the speeds at "quarter" increments would be the best option. If you are going to use 1.62x, I suggest stop playing the game...

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
lolno. This not only would be extremely difficult to code, it wouldn't benefit most people. I'm sure 1.875 would be going far enough to please the general population of FFR.

Very Grave Indeed

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
Because unless or until we have a better framerate for the game, many speedmods set on the fly by users would cause all kinds of problems in terms of the accuracy and sync of the song, so far as I know.

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
This is true. I remember this being mentioned about trying to make FFR have a higher framerate, above 30 FPS. But it was also mentioned that the sync of songs would change too. I guess that makes this a problem too.

Re: Speed mod suggestion!
I also seem to recall that third style is supposed to have a much higher framerate, and in addition, either more speedmods, or custom speedmods. So when one problem gets fixed, so to does the other.
