Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
keeping them up actually makes wrist pain decrease. However, if you aren't used to it, your wrists will get tired and they will feel like they hurt p. badly.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
I hover my hands over my keys and have my arms raised a little, but I'm not a pro at ffr.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
wrists down is to wrists up as one hand is to spread
sure it may be difficult/uncomfortable to switch initially but by sticking with the former you're invariably just going to gimp your potential as a player. also as buziel said I've found playing wrists up actually places less straight on my wrists than otherwise less strain, increased speed, there's really no downside |

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
the way i play at my best is i lie down with my head propped up a bit on the side of my couch and my laptop on my stomach. this way my elbows are rested on the floor and i can easily tap the keys quickly and comfortably. my hands hover just a bit over the keys

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
My wrist generally stays low near the desk for stream and trills, but for jacks/jumps my wrist raises without me thinking about it.
I suppose if it works for you, go with it. Everyone has their own way of playing - a lot of them quite unorthodox, so what works for others won't necessarily roll with you. Just do whatever gives ya them AAA's.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
well have to say for the best performance you need to hav your rist off the keyboard but that is just me... course when I get lazy I often let my rist sit. But if you want to get the jacks down some times it is good to have your rist down.
