Ladies, if a man takes the time to drive through a blizzard for two hours on Valentine's day to see you, writes a song just for the occasion, and buys you a box of Gertrude Hawk truffles, a giant teddy bear, a card that he added his own message to, and pizza for you, and you lay on the bed, not even facing him at all as he holds you in his arms, taking a nap and occasionally having a conversation with friends on Facebook (a conversation of zero imporance, if I may add), and not engaging in any conversation for two hours, then telling him that you want to sleep and he should get going, and being pushy about him leaving when he wants to walk out into the cold and get you the last gift from his car, then relationships are probably not for you.

Was going to post this on my Twitter account, but ya know, 140 character limit. Not searching for sympathy, just stating my position.

I've been in a similar relationship. :/

Back when one of my exes moved to college, I'd drive up to see her like every other weekend. She lived about an hour and 45 minutes away. Basically, I'd just go up there to help her with whatever dormroom chores she was doing, take her out to eat, and then leave. Very little of the intimacy and affection that was present at the beginning of the relationship (which was about 2 years prior). Though it's not like everything was wonderful prior, since she could be pretty verbally abusive sometimes.

It was around that point that I knew I didn't want to spend the rest of my life with this girl. Yet I still stayed and went back to her dorm time and time again, hoping that things would turn around. That maybe this time she'd show some sign that she was still in love with me. But there was nothing.
It was finding out that she was planning to cheat on me that finally made me decide to break up with her.

If this sounds familiar to you, you might want to break it off while you still can if you haven't already.
Otherwise, maybe she was depressed or just having an off-day or something? Either way, that would upset me, too.

I've heard way too many people regret wasting years of their life on someone waiting for them to change, until the breaking point. It only get worse the longer it drags on if they're not the right person for you.

All the conversations we had in the weeks prior to me going up there yesterday suggested that she was really excited to see me. Even in the hours before i got there, there was excitement and emotion. Then I got there and there was nothing.

I'm pretty certain that it's time to break it off though. I feel like there's a time for experimenting in relationships and "playing the field", and there's the rest of the time for finding that person you connect with and see a future with. With me being in college and having changed my major to something I'm confident and passionate about, and almost being 22 years old, those days of bouncing around in relationships and fake feelings are long gone. We had talked for quite a while before being committed to one another, and it didn't seem or feel meaningless but sometimes it takes just one slip for something to break, ya know?

some people don't know how to receive love, let alone show love back. its like they're in a state of being frozen and are distracted and the same things that matter to you, mean nothing to them. if she knew how much you cared I'm sure she wouldn't act as she did, but it seems like she's blind to it right now. i wish you solace.

Moments like these are reasons why I don't acknowledge Valentines day as a proper holiday anymore.

I hate valentines day, fuck it. Not that I condone sharing of love or anything, but I believe anniversaries & special days out are more special than any given day such as Valentines day which is for everyone. Call it cheap love.
