Being a white male in a middle class family living in the Midwest, I'm pretty insulated from his threats with respect to race. I can understand being concerned with his stated threats to civil liberities, but most don't effect me. Mass deportations of illegals and locking down immigration especially at the Southern border are things I don't worry about, so I'm certainly biased.

Civil unrest is fine, I think the founding fathers encouraged it (I might be wrong on that bit), but violent protests over someone who won't take office for two more months seems extreme. I haven't been following to see if the current protests are violent, but the point still stands.

Fearing the worst right now I disagree with. I seriously doubt his radical ideas will come to fruition. It's the people you have to fear. People don't change every four years, but the president can.

I feel like, regardless of the uncertain nature of these up coming four years... there's going to be a lot more divide in America among not only just random passerby's, but friends and family.

Or maybe that's just me worrying too much of what I've been hearing around the news and backhand news. Tons of protests and even some small violent riots erupting over the country.

he wants to repeal obamacare, republicans have been trying to do that ever since it was created, and he wants to replace it with "Health Saving Accounts." he also wants to let the states manage medicaid funds. that probably doesn't mean much to a lot of people but that could potentially make it so I'd have to pay $500+ a month on my medications.

The main thing that some minority groups are afraid of in this sense is that there is a chance that Trump's win has emboldened bigots and/or racists to re-emerge from the shadows. As a trans woman in a heavily red state, I will admit that I was slightly anxious to go back to work on the day after election day. However, I didn't personally didn't have anyone treat me different than usual, so I'm hopeful I won't be impacted too much on that front.

On the other hand, there are certain policies and supreme court decisions that may be challenged as a result of the Republicans holding every branch. I can only speak on LGBT issues as those are the ones I'm most familiar with, but things like marriage equality, recent rights for trans children, and gender identification regulations on federal documents could potentially be reversed. Though marriage equality getting reversed would require Trump to be able to nominate two justices seeing as Kennedy voted in favor of marriage equality. That is a real possibility considering that Ginsburg is 83 years old.

Oh, and you could argue that a president's or vice president's views on social issues are indicative of where the country wants to go. If true, then our country has shown that it wishes to go backwards on some social issues.

He will appoint at least one justice during his term. If a state wants to bring forth a new marriage equality case, then the supreme court can effectively reverse its prior stance.
