Newt needs to cite his sources. Then again, the Republicans refused to stand up any time Obama mentioned lowering taxes so I guess it fits their narrative better than it does the truth.

Re: Newt Gingrich Response to State of Union
I like how he thinks he needs his ~3 million dollars to live for the year and not have higher taxes placed on him when most of the community lives off of a very small fraction of that amount.

Re: Newt Gingrich Response to State of Union
It's not like you have a shot at the Presidency if you're poor.
This whole "job creators / lower taxes" thing though is a total supply-side farce. Newt advocates a 0% capital gains tax. There are just no words. I just get really tired of these economic policies that rely on BS logic that since 99% of the economy feeds off the scraps of the 1%, therefore if you want everyone to eat better you need to give the 1% more food because they provide size, scale, and "business-savvy." We've already seen such massive transfers of wealth from the middle class to the upper class... and the results are hardly surprising. Just think about it in terms of variance. It's pretty obvious. Do you really think people like Romney are investing their fortunes in risky startups? Do you think he pays more than his neighbor for the same landscaping services? |

Oh, and according to Newt, woman are useless in the military, Hispanic people are speaking ghetto-language, black people don't have any clue what a paycheck looks like because they are lazy, and gay marriage is responsible for all sorts of economic troubles. Evolution is just a theory, the Founding Fathers would be outraged at pot, and global warming is a conspiracy.

Re: Newt Gingrich Response to State of Union
Wasn't saying it's bad that he has a lot of money, just seems to me like he has no interest, and actually opposes, the raising of taxes on the wealthy (yes, I did read your post). It's not that I think it's going to completely get rid of the situation this country is in completely, but a lot of little things can add up to help. If you don't give any of the small things a chance and just wait for something big to come along and help, it might be too late.
