stepmania 3.95 its very simple to use and easy to find the screenshoots folder
stepmania 5 and the other stepmania builds lacks uni code fonts and that's the only shit it was never fixed since stepmania was released..

I use both 3.95 and 5.0.6, because the 3.95 version has higher FPS and more smooth than 5... But it don't have bar note skin for 3.95

Actually, scratch that comment about the Alpha earlier. I just had the same offset somehow migrate to Regular SM5 after setting it in the Alpha...but it's now on-sync in SM5? When previously it wasn't?

I don't know, man, I don't how SM really works and it's been constantly dicking me over in tiny ways like this, all the way back to 3.9 when some unset-by-me global offset that made my simfiles offsync to other users magically reappeared no matter how many times I tried to get rid of it. (Thankfully the bullshit has calmed down since SM5)

Well, then why is LOVE (an engine where game files are written in Lua) being used as a base for the proposed SM6? Wouldn't the problem be much worse?

Actually, it might not be. A major reason cited for using LOVE as a base is LuaJIT availability, and while I don't understand the specifics of it, it seems to absolutely smoke standard Lua in performance.

(sorry if this post is incoherent, I'm in dire need of sleep)

Both of these scores I had to focus way WAY harder on trying to MA everything, much moreso than I've ever had to do with the 3.9/3.95 builds.
PS I <3 U Jousway

This is the reason why I play SM3.95 over 5.x. That kind of MA difference isn't just from suddenly skillboosting when I played them songs immediately one after the other. Not to mention on my monitor notes scroll much more smoothly on 3.95 than 5.x. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the customizability and general ease of use of 5.x but I can't score for shit on it. Everything suffers when I'm actually playing. :/

To be honest, I thought I was in a major slump because I had been using 5.x for a long time, trying to figure out why I couldn't play JS and other hardpain style songs. Then one day I saw that I had a 3.95 build (Mina's build ) on my exdrive and figured I'd play around with it. Lo and behold, everything was vastly improved over my scores on 5.x. I really wish that weren't the case because I really do love 5.x: it has such amazing and vast improvements. Not to mention dat Barebones by Jouseway. Still the sexiest skin for 5.x haha!

you tried the waveout fix? dramatically improved fps and acc for me

just go to preferences.ini in your appdata/stepmania 5/save folder and change SoundDrivers= to SoundDrivers=WaveOut

also maybe try switching renderer to d3d

Never knew there was a fix like that. FPS isn't an issue since I get 144fps due to my monitor refresh rate, thank the gods. I appreciate the tip! I will definitely be trying this tonight on my main rig (as I'm at work atm on a shitty asus laptop kb). If this fixes the timing issue, I'll def be using SM5.x much more, esp since customizing scroll rate has never been easier.

Plus I love sucking Jouseway's donk because of the Barebones theme. ;3

Did you check out the .sm.old file? Maybe it still has it as a backup?

That feel when you work in IT and you know for sure you could find the lost file and recover it before they have enough time to even tell you where it was saved originally.

Can I just get your computer number? I want to remote in and take a look at some settings Kappa.
