EDIT: ok, the deal isn't on steam anymore, unfortunately.

its $15 per person if we get 4 people interested instead of $5 per person, and it only saves $5 per person.

Notes:
Sunfan and I agree that the snowball effect of getting treasure map to proc super early in the game is what really helped Sunfan. The use of lots of warehouses beyond then helped deal with the early victory points, and monument as well proved monumental (ha!) for the win. Counting House and Royal Seal got no use once again, and Worker's Village proved lackluster. I still really like salvager but I don't know if that's a common sentiment.

Smartdude's playstyle is something I'm really not used to, in that he played to sabotage everyone else to a high degree (I had 15 curses at the end thanks to him arrrgh!). I think every card got some use for the first time. Haggler had a fairly large impact as a whole; the province->gold combo is really powerful.

I'll add I've never played with cards outside the first edition, Intrigue, or Prosperity, and any time I'm introduced to a new set I like to fuck around with them more than anything. As soon as we get a game with platinum/colony I'm coming for blood. :>

Ambassador and Ill-Gotten Gains are both veeeery interesting to me, and I could see myself trying to build decks around them for the fun of it. I mentioned during the game that Loan would make a good combination with IGG, but I think Mint might be even better.

Mint with ill gotten could be interesting and especially devastating in a low victory point game with little trashing

Also Embargo was dramatically under-used and I think part of that was having a setup with no +2 action cards but also Haggler destroys it and I should've just settled with embargo-ing the provinces.

I think the embargo on gold was alright, it's just that as you said haggler countered that too well
